Going to have a go...
So I usually get my car completely detailed twice a year and then wash my car once a week.
I want to have a go at this myself but want to make sure I have everything i need. I didn't get my spring detail and now we are into summer....i was just waiting for my vacation to get started. Now i do have alot of swirls on the car from the winter...personally, I have no clue how since I also wash my car alot in the winter and take the proper steps on taking care of the paint. I plan to use in the following order *Wash Car - Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash *Clay Car - Meguiars Clay Kit (clay the whole care) *Wash Car Again *Get rid of swirls, water marks, sun spots - PC 7424 - White Pad - Menzerna Intensive Polish *Prep Surface - PC 7424 - Black Pad - Menzerna Final Polish *Sealant - Klasse HGSG - By hand Let me know if these steps are correct and if i'm using the right pads. Also, let me know if i'm using good enough products to get the job done. I really don't want to spend anymore money than I have to but I haven't purchased the Menzerna products, pads or Klasse yet so i still have time. Thanks |

You may need an orange pad and I would get SIP instead of IP. You may even think of PO203 Powerfinish. I don't feel IP has the cut to take care of swirls on BMW's hard clearcoat.

Orange for SIP or IP - I don't like IP
PO203 - has the same cut as SIP but finishes better - white pad If you buy PO203 you don't need SIP Final Polish - blue or black pad

Not a pro, as I just completed my first full detail this weekend, but fromw hat I experienced the other memeber sound right on. My paint was in great condition with some spider swirls.
After claying, I used Menzerna Final Polish and white pad. Pretty much zero correcting power. Guess I should have known fromthe name but I'm a newb. Get an orange pad with SIP or PO203. PS - if it's your first time detailing, give yourself THE WHOLE DAY. |

DO NOT use orange pad unless your car has major swirl marks. Remember evrytine you polish your car you remove some of the clear coat. Orange pad is more aggresive than white pad. You will be remove your clear coat when you don't need to. But if you have major swils then go with orange pad.
