I think Clark Griswald had a neat method of taking the dog on vacation in the movie...Vacation. Just kidding. No way I would let a dog in my car, I had a hard enough time letting my wife drive it!

My sister and I have a small maltese and we love her to death!!! She's absolutely the sweetest dog in the world and she's really a part of the family. She goes where ever we go...so she absolutely gets to sit in any of my cars...

no way! I would never let my dogs in my car. I used to drive our dogs to the park, but now we walk.

I have a Golden Retreiver, and although he hasn't been in this car yet, he used to ride in my E36 Cab.
We took him from Barrie, (Toronto) to Florida in it.
We bought him fitted leather booties, so no damage to the leather, but I must admit, it is difficult to vacumn the dog hairs.
I bought a seat cover from BMW, but it didn't last.
Dog was too heavy and it just tore.
I see BMW has one in its accessory site, but same type as before, I don't recommend it.
The booties work great.

absolutely -- but I bought the $300 dog seat cover (that hooks to the front and back head rests and COMPLETELY covers the back seats... I also throw a couple of sheets down 'cause one of my mini schnauzers will usually get car sick and I don't want her puking on the protective car seat cover!

You can see the back seat cover in the accories manual posted in this forum...

I don't know...I'm not a big dog person. I wouldn't allow it until I have a few dings and scratches on my car (hopefully not for a while yet) or until the car is really broken in and you don't care where you park it, etc. But right now I'm really "baby-ing" my car. We have a poodle and a golden retriever, but neither is allowed even near my room...let alone my car.

This is a good idea - where did you get these? Petsmart type of place?

That is really great. I have been worrying so much about the first scratch on the car...when I saw that pic, kind of brought everything into perspective. Like when I first got the hardwood floors in the house, I thought the best thing to do was to get the inevitable over with and get the first scratch and it would not worry me as much.
