LATEST RELEASE for 135/335/535 OEM STYLE ECU REFLASH

LATEST RELEASE for 135/335/535 OEM STYLE ECU REFLASH

GIAC USA, (Irvine, CA) have just released their 1/3/535 - ECU flash upgrade. The software upgrade is electronically installed with no hardware components and uploaded into the stock ECU through the OBD2 port !

GIAC has been calibrating ECU software for the aftermarket for over 14 years and their reputation in the Porsche, Audi, VW and Bentley market speaks for itself. GIAC have been writing proprietary custom software for all VF-Engineering supercharger and turbocharger systems since Dec 2000. GIAC have been in the background of the BMW aftermarket since the late 90s with their NA tunes for the older E39 540 and E36 M3s. Their software powers are most popular kit to date : the VF stage3 E46 M3 supercharger taking power from 275 to 600whp on 91 octane.

After 2 years of continuous testing on their in house 335 as well as many other models, GIAC engineers rigourously dis-assembled and recalibrated the different versions of OEM software with the various anti-tuner defeat code using their own proprietary methodology. The GIAC software is designed to work on a complete stock to a fully loaded 1/3/535 using upgraded intercooler, bypass valves, exahust etc. All testing is performed with 91 octane at the GIAC laboratory on their Mustang AWD-MD500 dyno cell. This allows them to perform road simulation to drag race type scenarious. Their extensive use of diagnostic equipment to monitor the vehicles critical sensors is part of the key to creating a reliable yet powerful software upgrade.

Programmer connected to OBD II port

Below as an example for the E60 owners, we have tested an employees Dad's 535 Automatic. This car was dynod completely stock with stock exhaust on 91 octane on our in house Dynojet 224. Then the ECU was flashed with the GIAC software while the car was still strapped on the dyno. The car was then run on the dyno immedately after.

Below are the results:

Peak power increased from 266 whp to 308 whp (at the rear wheels at 96 DegF - 535 Automatic - 91 octane)
Peak torque increased from 269 wtq to 337 wtq (at the rear wheels at 96 DegF - 535 Automatic - 91 octane)
Boost increased from 8.2 to 13.5 psi

Max power increase: 62 whp at 4400 rpm
Max torque increase: 74 wheel torque at 3100 rpm

Remember this is an automatic on 91 octane !

Manual transmissions have already been dynod to much higher levels. We will be posting some plots of manuals cars that we will be dynoing next weeks.

The software must be installed by a GIAC dealer at this time.

This product sounds great... but I'm still waiting for a 'home flash' product so I can flash back to stock when I want - without needing to visit the tune shop.

The GIAC handheld flash loader (mentioned in another thread) sounds promising.

Indeed great numbers, ESPECIALLY for a HOT (triple digit day) at the shop 100+ degrees fahrenheit!
We waited until the late afternoon to cool down before we did our dyno runs, which came down to 96 degrees fahrenheit.
*With cooler temperatures, expect to have an increase in higher wheel horse power (whp) and torque numbers.*

pms replied, thank you. Below are a couple answers to some of the pms that were asked

GIAC FLASHING AT VF-Engineering

-We're scheduling "in-house" flashes by phone, or email (appointments only).
-ETA for flashing ECU is about 1 1/2 -2 hours.
-Yes we do other vehicle flashing as well as the 335's (bmw, audi, porsche, vw, for those with secondary or other vehicles-).

I understand that a GIAC dealer can only program the flash at this time. Are there any serious plans to offer this as a DIY using our laptops or some type of a handheld? I see little or no value for vehicles under warranty to be at the mercy of a GIAC dealer when they have to take their car in for service for any reason.

I think someone will make a killing if they come up with a system like BSR did:
