What spacers for my XI? Pic included.

Hello,
I'm curious about getting some H&R or Rogue spacers for my XI. I am already dropped on H&R sport springs with 18x8.5f 18x9.5r Beyern Mesh rims...but want to push the wheels (probably just rear) out a little farther. What can I do? 12mm FTW? Do I have to worry about offset issues because I have Beyern rims?

There is no way to tell from that shot. You'll have to measure from inside the wheel well to the face of your tire (or rim). Just remember kits that say 10mm are usually 5mm per side to make 10mm total. Check before buying.

Interesting. I didn't know that about the kits.

Well, you should try to measure it yourself because it is really hard to tell unless we know your offset. I used to try having a 10mm spacers on the rear of my CSL wheels with 35mm offset, and i'm lowered on eibach spring and it rubs pretty badly. With springs alone, you probably cant go that aggresive in your offset because rubbing will be an issue

When I look there isn't much space at all. I measure about 20mm of clearance? I'm not confident that I'm measuring the distance correctly though. I'm going to have to stay away from spacers until I can get my fenders rolled and have it diagnosed by someone with more experience. Otherwise I'll be experimenting with a set of 12mm. Thanks for your help guys.

you need to find the offset of the wheel.

I have been playing with spacers for a couple of weeks now, have tried all manufactures and sizes. First and most importantly don't buy H&R.

My rear wheels are 19x9.5 with an et39 I have H&R coilovers.
1st attempt was 15mm's. No way. These will never ever fit no matter how much rolling and pulling of the rear quarters you do. Almost 1/4 of the tire was sticking out of the wheel well.

2nd attempt was 10mm's. These looked better and the car did roll with them but on any corner they were rubbing. I raised my rear coilovers all the way up and they still rubbed on corners.

Both of these attempts are H&R spacers car had a bad shake with the 10mm's

3rd attempt was 5mm's from EAS Macht Schnell (sp?) With these on the wheel is now flush with the rear quarter no shake or wobble. I was able to drop the rear suspension back down. They do rub when you compress the suspension all they way like on highway dip at high speeds. It's not too bad so I will probably leave them.

Now for the front.
H&R 10mm's made the steering wheel wobble so bad the car felt really unsafe at speeds above 30mph. scary.

H&R 15mm's stuck out a little to far, didn't rub but they did ride much better then the 10's there was very little to no wobble / shake in the wheel.

Finally settled on Rouge Engineering 12mm for the front. These are worth every cent they charge. It's too bad you will never see these when they are on the car, they are machined marvels. Outstanding job RE. Car rides perfect with these no rubbing and smooth as silk.

Holy long post. It's just been a long week f'ing around with spacers for me. So bottom line my car on H&R coilovers (set on the lower side)
front = 19x8.5 et37 RE 12mm spacer perfect. tire 235/35
rear = 19x9.5 et39 EAS 5mm spacer (almost) perfect. tire 265/30

Great post!! Thank you very much for that advice. I'll definitely take everything that you said into consideration when purchasing and installing the spacers.

I've got 12mm H&R's on stock 18-inch 189-style wheels in the rear. I have no rusting, no vibration whatsoever. In fact, alot of people on this board will recommend H&R spacers over Rogue but I think the majority of this is just due to the reputable name and stuff they have used in the past.

Pick what works for you but make sure to do your research.

E328xi- The rear wheel seems to be about the right offset (at least fro the pic). I'm not sure that you need any spacers. What are the dimmensions of the rear wheels? Offset?

The rears are 18x9.5 with 265/35/18. I'm unsure of the offset, how is it calculated??

It may be stamped on the back of the wheel (it may not be obvious) or can check with the company you bought it from.

Folks, offset is not going to be the issue here if your tires/rims are already mounted. Simply measure the space between the inside wheel well and the face of your tire or rim. That will dictate the spacer you will require. Depending where you take your inside wheel well measurement you may get some tire rub if not accurately measured.
