How Can I tell if BT Scanner is Working Correctly - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Hey guys, I have the BT Scanner and have scanned my car and it shows no codes. What I’m wondering is how do I know the scanner is working correctly? I punched in the last 7 of my vin as it asked for at the startup and the rest of the information was filled out presumably by the program recognizing the vin numbers.

But how can you tell if it is working? Obviously I’d rather have no codes but I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. Is there anywhere on the program that can alert you on whether or not the car is actually connected to the program?

Make sure that you have ignition on when you scan.
In other words, push the start button without your foot on the clutch or the brake pedal and then scan.

You can also stroke the door locks or turn your lights on or whatever. You have control over most all functions of the car through the BT.

If I'm getting numbers on the "Actual Value" option would that mean it is indeed connected?

Would it make a difference if the engine was on or do I have to do it with ignition on only?

Yes.
just do what I said and you won't have to enter in your vin.
