GIAC Software for BMW 135, 335, and 535 Applications is Now Available!!!

Newly Released GIAC Software for BMW 135, 335, and 535 Applications

Stage 1 GIAC performance software is now available for BMW 135, 335, 535 applications.
* 55 wheel HP and 55 ft lbs of wheel torque gain over stock (dyno plot link). Gains are estimated at 60 HP and 60 ft lbs of torque at the crank.
* OBD2 port flash installation
* Enhanced throttle reaction
* Smooth power transitions
* Removed speed limiter
* Higher rev limiter, 7200 RPMs
* Switching options may be available in the coming months.

Dynamometer test results are included here using a test vehicle courtesy of AE Performance. The graph plots three runs for a 2008 E92 335i 6MT with an AE Performance cat-back exhaust and dual cone intake on 91-octane fuel. The second run is the baseline run with stock DME programming. The first and third runs are performance runs with GIAC Stage 1 programming.

MSRP for the GIAC software is $800. This GIAC software, as well as the previously released software for M3 applications, can be installed by any GIAC authorized dealer who has access to the proper scan tool. Customers are advised to call ahead to ensure that their local dealer is ready to flash this specific application. All GIAC software includes a 30 day money-back guarantee from original point of sale. All vehicles are returned to stock with a 100% OEM DME flash.

Baseline testing for stage 2+ has also begun with the use of a 2008 135i from European Auto Source. Each run was conducted using an EAS dual cone intake, EAS upgraded downpipes and an Evolution Racewerks front mounted intercooler. The first run is our stage 1 baseline and was performed with a GIAC stage 1 flash. The second run was performed with stock DME programming. Dyno tests have shown impressive gains for the added hardware setup with just the stage 1 flash and we look forward to even more. Additional information regarding stage 2/2+ will be released as it becomes available.

348whp Stage 1 with Mods in this dyno would be the equivalent of what in Dynojet??? I must say that even Stage 1 with hardware looks great (keeps a lot of power even towards the redline!)

Looking forward to Stage 2 news!

Congrats!!!

Austin,
Been waiting for the right tune for 2 years.
Will GIAC create a tune for use w/an updated fmic and stock dp's?
How will the tune perform 6500' above sea level? Is there altitude compensation involved w/the software as w/the the stock dme?
Is the tune compatible w/the latest BMW software updates?
Will GIAC be seeking CARB exemption?
Thx

what about a reflash policy just incase the owner gets an SW update or something from the dealer...will that wipe the GIAC flash...if so,is there some type of "re-reflash" policy/contingency?

what was used to scan for codes post GIAC flash?

Probably my next tune if I can find a dealer to do it locally...One thing though, if those tests were on 91oct, approx how much difference should 93 octane make. I know about everyone around here in the NY/NJ tri-state area use 93oct and with other tunes the better gas adds few more horses. Any ideas?

As an authorized GIAC Dealer, AE will be available to answer any questions regarding the tune and also take appointments for flashing cars immediately. My car is making some incredible power with the flash and I couldn't be happier!

The guys at GIAC deserve a big thumbs up for this one.

I can answer most of that for you.

Tuning is in process for stage 2/2+ which would incorporate DP's and FMIC. Look for those flash files to be added in the relatively near future.

Tuning is not affected negatively by altitude. The trim maps for altitude correction remain intact and work to compensate from the base performance mapings as altitude increases.

"Is the tune compatible w/the latest BMW software updates?" Not certain what you mean exactly. The software is completely remapped in nearly every way for smoother acceleration and superior power and torque throughout the rpm range without sacrificing drivability and safety. GIAC takes into account all updated software as it is released by the dealer so if a new dealer version is released they will check it to determine what changes the OEM made and create updated GIAC files IF deemed necesary or beneficial.

Don't know as far as CARB certification for CA but the software will meet all on-board diagnostic requirements if checked with a factory level or OBD scan tool. Austin could speak to that for certain.

Try Tyrolsport in Queens or AWE in Pennsylvania.

Not to derail the thread, but a good friend of mine used to work at Tyrolsport and I have heard nothing but horror stories about that place.

BTW, its nice to see the GIAC flash finally hit the market.

How does the flash deal with software level compatibility with the rest of the car? Do you look at the particular production date of the car and send out the appropriate file? Or check to see what the software level is in a car that has been reprogrammed (due to repairs) at the dealership?

Or does this only target the boost/timing/injection/etc files while returning everything else intact into the DME? (That is what I would assume).

I had a DSC repair done on my car, and they had to reprogram the whole car to make the new part compatible with the rest of the car. And this definitely had an influence on the perfomance of the car.
