MB Quart RUA 210 - Who is using?

Anyone using the MB Quart RUA 210 set?

If so how is the fit and SQ of it?

Do the tweeters fit in the OEM spot?

I have installed them. As I recall the tweeters do snap into the OEM spot. The mid doesn't play that low. It's clearly an upgrade over factory, but to me the Dotechs sound better.

Mb Quart Rua 210

I mounted them today, listened to just a little bit, but so far they are beyond my expectations.
I didn't have the BSW option 'cause of the shipping costs and custom, so I gave the MB Quart RUA210 a try (the price also help brough me toward that option)
BTW the tweeter in the front slot is a perfect fit, better then the OEM, whereas in the rear (wagon e91) it needs some mod...
IMHO they sound great (so far), and I regret having waited that long to upgrade.
I'll give them a couple of weeks of tests and then I'll go for the second pair for the rear.
cheers Max

MB Quart RUA210 Vs German Maestro EV4008

Bought them on ebay 65+25 shipping... eBay #200403054883

If some of you are wondering why the MB Quart are running now cheaper than MSRP.... I did some research and the company changed "boss" and run under the name of "German Maestro", I would recommend everyone interested to check their website.... www.german-maestro.de
and maybe eBay #160367243952 (same seller as above)
all data are identical.... take a look at woofer and tweeter... identical, only thing different are x-over, however same exact frequency point! I would bet the only different thing is the plastic case.

some info...

Hi guys, bought
another pair of the MB Quart RUA 210 and RUA 213.
I'll try to mount the 5.25" (13cm) first and if they fit I'll then put the 4" (10cm) in the rear doors...
If they don't fit I'll go with 4 front and rear... keeping the 5 for my next project.. (I think for the price they are a good bargain)...
I'll keep you posted.. and next time with pictures.

RUA 213

Hi there,
I received the speakers today!!!! The RUA213 are "almost" a perfect fit... they just need a bit or "denting" along the edge (plastic frame) where the door screws are, 2 of which are already there....
Pics will help understand
Soundwise.. I'll get back
So far so good!!

Awesome! I knew they would fit depth-wise. This is only the second proof of installation of a 5.25" driver I have found for that position. Let us know how it sounds now! BTW, he 6.25" version of the same component system is only a couple mm deeper. Hmmmmmmm ???!!!

The 6.5" won't probably fit , unless you do some major work, such as:
1) open the hole in the door a bit more, as you can see in the picture it barely fit the 5", but if you plan to widen it up an exchange the grill, it should work.
2) the issue is not the depth but the with of the fram, infact the 5" push the black "door covering" (I really don't know how to call it, so I came up with "balck covering) somewhere along the edge of the hole, at this point I wouldn't bet on the fitting of a 6" since they are wider. However if you plan on front mounting them with a grill, it'll probably work.
Soundwise, I am still checking the differences between the 4 and the 5, but so far I am very pleased... BTW as I already mentioned, for those interested in having more bass, well by mounting these speakers the overall sensitivity of the mid-highs will lower, so to get the same sound pressure level, you have to increase the volume; this will result in more bass coming from the underseat subs making the sound overall more present. I won't add more, since more testing is in progress.
Tomorrow I'll start the rear door RUA210 install....
I'll keep the forum update...
as far as the doubts about "how do they sound" because of the price.... again check the german maestro company EFS4008 and see yourself.... in Europe you won't find the MB Quart's web site anymore...
and eBay 160367243952 (same seller I bought the RUA)
Cheers

... rear doors done!!!! took 3 hours this morning, but I manage to do a great job, without rush. The tweeter hole needed some drilling to widen it up, but the result is fantastic (picture to come).
Feedabck:
- Midwoofer RUA210 (7 days of listening in the front doors, without the rear sub and with the rear CIARE CK100 temporary speakers, still better than OEM) : the voice is nice, clear and present, the lows are honest, but not really punchy, (well what to expect from a 4", and with a high pass filter). However, they'll distort only at max volume if the bass is set up more the +4 (depending on the song, let's say with average bass). Being less sensitive than OEM, it results that bass @ 0 will work nicely (at times -1 and even -2 works better), with the underseat subs working properly, and managing all the low end, resluting in a complete punchy and no boomy as some reported....
Woofer RUA213 (2 days listening, without the rear sub and with CIARE in the rear doors): different from the little brother, these are more sensitive resulting in a higher volume level, but still less then OEM, balancing the underseat subs (with this set-up the bass 0 will work almost in all scenario). That could also be a result of the different crossover (in the 210 the x-over freq is 3.8khz, in the 213 the freq is 5.2khz). compared to the "babies" theese tend to be more present making the voice at times brighter than needed. The low end is not there (most probably due to the amp high pass filter, but the mid bass is fantastic, powerfull and punchy, they have actually impressed me).
Tweeter CT 25: first of all, the mounting are matching the opening of the front mirror slot (and they already gain several points); in the rear door they have the same width, but you need to cut the internal plastic brackets for the OEM; once you clean all the extra plastic, they are a perfect fit, no glue needed. Some guys reported the are harsh, but IMHO they are not! and they haven't been broken in. The up range is cristal clear, not agressive making the brigh voices present and clear. Very nice offset response. I really like them.

Overall: so far the sound fill the car nicely, the amp have enough power to fullfill (I think) everyones (or majority I should say) needs. The underseat 8" work way better resulting in a perfect fit for this set-up. As a matter of fact the installation of an extra su will be needed only for the extreme low end....
At this point I would like to recommend this set-up for everyone that have the HI-Fi 10 speakers, and would like to upgrade without spending a fortune, without too much effort, without rewiring the car (other then the tweeter gasket in the rear doors! sedan should not have this issue, actually they should be a perfect fit too), and maybe even without installing a rear sub. Give it a try (It costed me €155, about $240); you'll always have time to upgrade with a new amp and add a sub as I did (even if I started with a sub first). If I were to upgrade now, I would start from the speakers first.
Only other thing I would do next.... open the underseat sub to put "dynamat", or any other cheaper materila I find on the market.... Don't assume those woofer are junk... they only need to be properly matched with the other speakers!!!
Hope I gave you guys enough info!!!! and again sorry for my English!!!!
Ciao Max

Max,

your English is 100% better than my Italian! Anyway, thanks for the review, I was really interested in the mid-bass response of the 213 set and I think you confirmed the obvious - that the larger driver will be able to play with much more authority in the mid-bass region. The question now becomes: How do these speakers compare to the higher end speakers like Focal, Morel, etc? I would suspect the mid bass will be much improved, but I am a bit worried about the midrange and highs from those tweeters. MB Quart was always known to sound "harsh". Anyway, I know you have no way of comparing these to other sets but I appreciate the feedback and happy listening!

Hi there,
Focal and Morel are great speakers, but MB Quart has also been a high end company, different sound however.
I cannot compare with because I have not heard any 390 with them, and to tell you the truth I haven't heard them in any car.
I am an Hi Fi DIY mostly and work with Hi Vi research and Dayton Audio, and in home DIY those brands are not that common, expecially for prices...
I'll give some more testing before trying to get back and give you some more details...
Meantime... here are the latest pics from today rear door mounting, and from last week new subwoofer grill....
Regards
Ciao MAX

I don't know if the other proof is DLS RS5/RS5A, but I did install them and are also an almost perfect fit, just need to make one hole in the edge of the driver to fit those three screws.

Actually, I was remembering an installation of Blaupunkt THc-542, which I read about in a European forum. So now we have three confirmed 5.25" component set installations.

I would say that all the 5" with the normal cone should work...
be careful the latest woofer have a wider cone area (i.e. take a look at the Infinity 50.9), being too close to the screws and bolts.....
