E92 Solar OEM Windshield???

I have done a search of the forum and did not find any posts about this subject...

I have a crack on the windshield of my 335i coupe and called a couple glass shops about getting a replacement. For one shop, when I asked for OEM glass, he asked me if I wanted solar OEM glass or non-solar OEM glass. Apparently the solar glass has a special coating to protect UV rays? I thought he was talking about tinting, but he said it was a stock OEM windshield. I had always thought there was only one kind of OEM glass for the 335i CP. Has anyone heard of this solar glass before?

I believe this is an option in Europe, and maybe everywhere else outside the US. I think they call it "climate comfort" or something. I've seen quite a few bimmers back in Ireland with this, it gives the windshield a really odd blue color. Didn't know it was available here...

Damn, wonder if they have this for the sedan... I wouldn't mind the blue tint on mine... Specially since I am gonna have to replace mine eventually (have a couple chips in the glass from road debris)

You can order this from the factory on every bimmer in Europe, so the part does exist for the sedan. Finding it here in the US is another matter...

Its a reasonable price. Somebody would probably charge you $100 on its own to put some Huper Optiks on the front windshield.
