Too generic for me
.
The A4 is bland as balls.

The S4 is sexay.

The seats alone put it above the 335i.

Competition is always a good thing, as it forces everyone to constantly strive for advancements. When the new S4 comes out, I'd be willing to bet quite a few enthusiasts will end up trading in their 335i. For example, the adjustable suspension and DCT in the S4 are only available in the M3 (for the US market). The new Quattro has a rear "sport" differential that allows for torque vectoring between the rear wheels, currently only available on the X6 as Dynamic Performance Control. It's features like these that will force BMW to trickle down the technology to the 3 series and up the ante again once the next gen 3er comes to market.

All in all, the new S4 looks pretty promising. Once they get the "Build Your Own" feature up and running, we can see what options there are and how the price will turn out.

The S4 is nicer that the A4 with it's sport trim but it's still an A4 look.
Now I'm not a BMW homer but I really don't like the design of the S4/A4.
I'd rather go supercharged A6.

On another note...
The first S4s imported will probably be loaded with options.
In fact, you may have to special order a bare bones model or lesser optioned model.

New S4 looks great and is priced right. I look forward to hearing from people driving them. Also keeping my fingers crossed there's another Audi driving event around here this summer, maybe it will be there.

Exactly. Competition from Audi in performance and pricing is excellent news for BMW enthusiasts as it should force BMW to offer better technology and better prices in its future vehicles. Of course, people with current top-of-the-line price/performance cars like the 335i will no longer be able to claim superiority, but that's just the way it works. And the S4's superior lap times, DCT, and other tech doesn't necessarily make it a more fun car than the RWD 335i. People need to learn to enjoy what they have instead of basing their happiness on having something "better" than others.

I have nothing bad to say about the S4 now that they've lowered the price point WITHOUT stripping the car....

If BMW doesn't answer, I'll have no choice to trade my HPFP in for an S4 when the time comes.

Cool

Now I'm not someone who is hung up on interior, but the S4 seats look ridiculously good. BMW needs to step it up and offer better seats and interior options. No two-tone options yet? BMW is lagging behind.

I dont even think the S4 should be compared to the 335 (performance wise). the N54 cars have a soft as fugg suspension and the damn thing cant go to a track without overheating. the way i look at it the 335 is an overachiever while the s4 hits its target dead on. but i still think they fall in between each other despite the pricing. the s4 is much more focused for sport driving while the 335 seems more like a GT or boulevardier

i disagree, the audi is a great car, yes, the A4 is extremely under powered but it's a beautiful looking car, w/ rims & a drop it competes w/ any 3 series w/ rims & a drop(in terms of looks). the 2010 s4 starting at 46k is a ridiculously great price & i've been considering it for my next car for a little while now, especially at this price! i'd end up super charging it w/ a VF super charger & flat blacking it but it's about time audi realizes that the s4 won't sell unless they match it up against the 335, i think they've made a really good move here! i'm definitely considering this for my next car..

Why would they regret their purchase "immediately"?

I think it will sell pretty well at first.
To this point Audi has tried and can't seem to make a car that really sells well.
Time will see if the S4 catches on and is a hit..

Really?

What about when they put the same amount of money into mods you have? Especially since you've spared no expense with your D-word mods.

I'm sure they'll be regretting absolutely nothing at that point.

How do you propose BMW focus on one-upping their competition's interiors when they're busy taking away things like functioning cubby hole lids and seatback nets?
