A good polish and some elbow grease make a huge difference

These are the exhaust tips off a Mercedes ML500. The left one is after I finished polishing it. What kind of person would live with such dirty tips??

What a difference!

Wow!

That's an amazing difference. I'd love to pick your brain for the products you used and how long it took.

Guys, believe it or not, all I used was my remaining Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish and a mf towel to polish by hand. I want to say it took about 15-20 minutes per tip, but I'm not sure. The trick was working in sections, as you would for a car panel. I was very surprised with the results.

Just goes to show you that a little elbow grease goes a long way. The owner was definitely very happy with her car (I gave her wheels the same treatment)

I'm looking to try out a new metal polish from Detailed Image next, but am lost on recommendations.

I've heard good things about OPT Metal Polish but with results like that, why change the technique.

Holy crap, that's some nice work. I polish my exhaust every wash, and looking at the "before" shot, I guess it's a good thing I do. I didn't know chrome could look that bad. I can't believe your turn-around!

I would've, but didn't have any on hand. My MF towel came out extremely dirty...

thanks for the comments everyone. I initially thought that the tips were bare metal

That's really amazing that they turned out so good. I use P21S metal polish. That stuff kicks ass!

very very nice!!!

I've used steel wool w/ that polish and had good results

then hit it with a microfiber and really buff it up.
