Unhappy Tracking the 335i...any issues?

So I've heard that tracking the 335 brings along some issues....

the car has a warning light and the car bogs down not letting you accelerate.

This usually happens after about 2-3 laps of hard driving.

At first I didn't believe it, but then went tracking and after 2 laps, warning light pops up and the car bogs down. kinda of stuttering along when you try to accelerate. Took the car to the pits, turned it off, then turned it back on, the warning indicator turns off and the car runs fine again.

So far I've witnessed it happen first hand on 2 cars and heard from 2 others of the same issue.

Is the 335 really that unrealiable on the track in a hot climate?

I'm in Malaysia btw, and took the car to the Sepang F1 Circuit

Wow...lots of posts out there about how the 335i works in hot climates on the track..you gotta search a bit. Lots of us have had issues on an ongoing basis. Limp mode is what you are talking about ...with a check engine light. High coolant and high oil temps definitely are involved with these limp modes coming in an protecting the engine from damage. I track my car a fair amount...maybe 2-3 times per month throughout the year...and many of those are in 80+ temp track days...sometimes as much as 100 degree days. If you see your oil temp hitting about 295...slow down and do a cool down lap...or two. If it persists...call it a day and go home.

thanks for the info, will search a bit more.

this situation sucks though, I never too many problems with my E46 and that was even supercharged!

What really sucks is when I start passing a bunch of cars only to just go limp later on while they keep on tracking.

waste of money paying for a 3hr session when you can only drive in spurts.

Yeah, the car is that unreliable when the temps outside are high. Some have gone to larger/extra oil coolers and larger intercooler's and had luck.
