please make sure the tests are done between 58-85 degree ambient temps and at a boost level of 13.5-14.5 psi so we can standardize the testing!

log boost, ait and rpm and note ambient temperature at time of test!
Hi,
Here are the OEM IAT vs RPI IAT's. Ambient temperature was 46 and 48F, pressure boost was 17 psi, my car is equiped with low compression pistons. (sorry for not respecting the standardization)

RPI FMIC IAT's are 20-25F lower than OEM FMIC IAT's.
Both logs are 2-3-4 gear logs

OEM FMIC IAT at 205km/h (127mph): 113F
RPI FMIC IAT at 205km/h (127mph): 90F

Anyone have logs with target and preboost both? How much pressure drop is expected at say 17 psi? My stock looks to have less drop then this xo2 but temps are much better with the xo2. Car feels sluggish off the line, at partial throttle but at wot I think the car feels strong. Thing is... I don't drive around wot often. I don't want to loose my low end torque in an attempt to find mid and top end. Pressure drop sucks... I did find a ton of oil in the core. I soaked it and may give it another try.

Size: 41.6 KBI have some amazing logs of xo2 fmic. The spearco knock off, godspeed, etc... It was altered to sit higher, closer to the radiator so the flow may have changed a bit but my logs at 14 psi look amazing. Temps are super low and there his less than 1 psi pressure drop. A log after at 18 psi (target) show boost at only 15 psi. Almost a 3 psi drop in pressure until I get to 5th gear.

Pressure drop was due to a v band clamp that was left loose during warranty work at the dealership.

Looks like the XO2 will perform as well or better than the much smaller ETS.

Hi,

All the Alpina's are equipped with high-strength Mahle piston with a compression of 9,4: 1.

Yea this was a great thread, should be stickied when more people post some independent datalogs.

I don't have an N54 anymore (thinking about getting another) but if someone puts together a post, I will update the first post with better information. Any vendors can feel free to ask me to delete and update with newer information as well as long as its formatted, I will copy and paste it.

The Helix FMIC weighs 27lbs, any physics geeks out there that can compute how much heat 27 lbs of aluminum can absorb before it heatsoaks??? The # is staggering and is one of the reasons why our fmic works so well!

Why are we assuming all these aftermarket FMIC's have .5 pressure drop.

If a FMIC has a pressure drop of like 2.0, and your doing your calculations based on .5 pressure drop, than that's a huge fake advantage for that high pressure drop FMIC.

I don't believe any pressure drop numbers until we actually flow bench test multiple FMIC's at once

Im sorry, but going way way back to the first post with Shivs comments, in the end are the FMIC's useful or not? Very curious as im currently debating weather buying one or not.

So took me a while to read all the pages..

So based on the thread the conclusion was Hilex was the best for dropping temps as well as had the least pressure drop?

I am not going for crazy mods but I know the stock FMIC in CA will get toasty fast. So I want to replace it for a DD setup. With that having the least pressure drop would be the best correct?

Thanks

In my opinion if one were truly better then the other instead of just talking they would buy the competitor IC and do the testing instead of what you have in here(lots of claims boasting). Buy one that suits your needs for example no cutting or factory connections. To many things that can alter the data. No real conclusion is what I got from it.

So if I used a dart board like the weather man I would get my best answer.. Well that just sucks.

well i just ordered the evolution racewerks FMIC w/ carbon shroud. should be here in 4-6 weeks due to the delay in shrouds. I plan on putting it on my car right after it arrives. but what kind of equipment due I need to test these temperatures? I also might dyno the car after, just to see how much power i picked up.
