Too much for what you will be getting, in my opinion! Does this include install?

Don't confuse pricing that involves co-packaging of perf exhaust with engine tune kit.

I did not know that this kit was packaged with the exhaust. As you know, many people already have the exhaust installed...

That is correct MSRP for port install. fwiw, there is a large mark-up from invoice. Hopefully we will eventually be able to purchase the kit from dealers like Tischer that offer 20% or more off MSRP.

Hello guys!
Power Kit installed since thursday!!!
I confirm all cstavaru's sensations on performance improvements.
Nothing upsetting of course, but an appreciable fine tuning.
Now the N.54 is, imho, really perfect, at low revs as well as high revs unto 7.000rev/min, with no appreciable power drop off!
The benefits of the Kit can be felt especially at medium and high revs. At low revs, maybe, the engine awakes 100-200 revs/min after. Turbo-lag is thinly more limited (but it was already minimum!!).
Oil temperature seems lower, but I have to test it more on the mountains-roads to have a preciser and clearer idea.
I'm very satisfied
Have a nice week-end

Talked to the local dealership yesterday. They can order the Performance Power Kit and have it in two days. Price was around $2K, altough they offer a 20% discount on parts and 10% on labor for BMWCCA members. They estimated about 3.25 hours for the install. Still debating the Dinan Stage 2 vs. the BMW kit. I'm not looking for the mad power output that the piggyback units provide, just something to compliment the already fantastic N54 and maintain the reliability of my Bimmer.

factory warranty >>> Dinan warranty, just my 0.02. If you get Dinan Stage 2, might as well slap on a JB3 or V3 instead.

Any more info on whether the kit will be available for older MSD80 cars?

There seems to be some confusion going on right now...even though I have MSD80-and provided VIN-a dealer in Florida placed and order for me. I mentioned my concern that this kit may not work with MSD80...she still ordered it...BMW ordering system allowed her to order, with my VIN.
However, she cannot give me an ETA...

I am not too hopeful...I am in a wait an see mode. I will not be surprised at all to receive a call from her telling me that the kit is not available-or some other sort of excuse.

Another dealer was so confused with the ordering system that she simply called to tell me that she can order it, period!

I think that there are two things going on:
1-The ordering system is screwed up
2-BMW, for some reason, is flip-flopping on release the kit and is changing the part numbers/requirements on the dealers sporadically.

I have called a few dealers and everyone is giving me a different answer!

I will make a few calls on Monday and let you know what I find.

Hey Marcel, if you could document before & after changes in performance that would be very helpful for others considering this tune.

In addition to just a simple time/distance/speed comparison, I would like to see data on boost during a 0-250kph run. Psi drop during shifts would be most interesting.

sure, but I can only measure with the Drift Box, data on boost I cannot record, and 0-250 is a bit difficult on public road

Drift box is OK, and 0-200? At least 0-150... Find Eugen or Marconi, those guys know where to drive fast in CH. Why get the Perf kit if you can't enjoy it!

Point being to get objective data, to avoid placebo effect. And have fun!

I know some places as well Will do 40-140 (to kill the pollution of getting away properly)
FYI, I get the power kit mainly for the cooling functionality. Had some issues this summer where the power was cut away because my oil temp went above 150 C.

Do you have the oil cooler? I wonder if DCT has heat load similar to the step.

Sure, I have the oilcooler. I had no issues with with the transmission at high temps. At the moment the power was reduced I still could shift like normal.

I just got a call from my dealer. The just finished installng the kit, and started the reprog. This will take 6 hours !?! So I will pick it up tomorrow. The 3.5 hours installation time seem to be a bit underestimated.
