Oil Light ...

So apparently I've burned through a quart of oil in my 6,600 miles I've logged.

Question -- Sterling is right around the corner. Anyone know if they will do a free top off of my oil, or will I have to pony up $$$?

Also, what is the recommended oil for e90's? Was thinking it would be something like Mobile 1 0w40 ... although I'm not sure where to source the quarts around here.

Sam,

Apparently the full maintenance program does not cover oil top ups...but my dealership did it anyways albeit with repetead reminders of their generous gesture. I always though the program would cover the top up....

Why don't you check with your SA?

I get all my fluids top off at Fairfax BMW to include the windshield washer fluid, must be that one special time, try it!

... I dont recall 10w-40 was the oil Id used during my last DIY oil chge, I seem to remember 5w-30, but double check

Sterling does a free top off if you bought from them. I have been in twice for a free top off :rocks:

Use the grade of oil stated in your maintenance manual that came with the car.BMW knows what is best for the vehicle.

Thanks for the info guys. I ended up calling my SA at Tishcher, and he just said to buy a quart of Mobil 1 5w30 and be done with it, unless I wanted to drive my ass to MD. Uhh... negative, Ghost Rider. I didn't try Sterling... maybe next time.

If you already have not taken care of it, why not try going over to Sterling?

I just showed up, said I needed to have my oil topped off, and they didnt even check me in. I just pulled up and they topped it off for me...
