Id rather not waste vodka on some flies. Heck, it might be vodka causing me to see these little flying things, lol. Never had them before ever. But the last few weeks, swarms are on everything. My cat loves them though, i dont. Wouldnt be so bad if they didnt touch me or my food.

Mix some yeast, water, and acetic acid(vinegar) into a liquidy opaque solution. Put it in a glass jar, and tape a cone shaped piece of paper with a very small hole on top of it. The flies will be attracted to solution and fly in, but they won't be able to escape.

I'm not sure if this is the case but occasionally I'll buy a house plant that hatches little black fly/gnat things weeks later and they completely own me.

If you have live plants in the room you have issues in, go bang on the actual pot - if it's infected, you will see tons of bugs come to the top.

bleck, I hate insects!

Haha it works though. I've conducted research on fruit flies for around two and a half years, and that's what we use to trap the stray flies...I just can't remember the exact amount of each item

edit: Oh, and you have to blend the solution

Well if you studied them u can tell me this. Are they born from fruit like flies in meat? Cause those things have no way in but are magically appearing. One literally flew by my screen as I was typing that. Never hardly seen them in my life, but a week ago they just appeared.

Fruit flies normally leave their eggs/larve in your sink's drain/garbage disposal. The only good way to get rid of them is to pour a product containing boric acid down the drain and let it sit. It kills the eggs before they hatch, and should get rid of your problem. If i remember correctly, "wash n walk" or something like that works good because of its high boric acid content. The usual household cleaners like bleech don't work nearly as well.
