Review *Helix FMIC*

ok so i recently installed a Helix Fmic and heres my review about this product

Fitment Umm i was quite amazed on how bad the fitment was...i had tons of trimming and even than it was still a Pain in the ass.. but after all said and done about 3 hours later she was IN..

Quality i do have to say the quality on this product was pretty solid welds were top notch clamps/hose's were extremly durable

Performance well i have to say she freaking pulls like a bat out of hell its really amazing how 3rd gear just pulls and pulls and pulls *the c55 amg really loved that also lol)

so overall i have to say im pretty happy with this product i dunno maybe i might have done somthing wrong with the install but i got passed that and just so happy with the Performance increase but two anyone whos on the fence about this mod i would have to say get it Professonally installed or if ur a heavy DIY-er....

The intercooler is a very tight fit and 2 sets of hands makes it ALOT easier. we have modified the mounting brackets so you can adjust the FMIC front and back to eliminate any trimming... whats very strange is MOST end users have to do no trimming at all, its not the FMIC as all are made in a jig. There has to be some difference between cars or as you said people are possibly doing something wrong during the install. Glad you like the quality and performance of the product.

I was in on the first group buy. I had to modify my brackets to fit properly. If the brackets were spot on, I wouldnt have had any issues whatsoever. The install was a bit rough only because of this. +1 on the welds, they are beautiful.

Helix has since modified their brackets so it should be a very simple install. One of the best mods imo, especially if you live in the south. I run a stock map with the intercooler to save my snails during the summer.

Is there another group buy going on anywhere for Helix?

I just installed mine this past weekend and trimming was a must. There was some plastic bracketry that prevents the intercooler from moving far enough forward and up. I would consider the trimming 'minor'. That aside, the product was very well constructed.

It's a tight fit but you can sort of "ram it home" without trimming.

+1 on the brackets

+1 on the second set of hands

BTW, the stock clamps that have to be removed can be a PITA.

However, this is probably the best I tercooler you can buy for this car and well worth the install. Can't say enough good things about it!!!

It's a tight fit, but well worth it. Car feels so much better with proper intercooling.

Just to give my 2 cents, no trimming needed to my e92 for the helix install. With Sniz as the installer it was literally done in 1 hour. I was the second pair of hands and I believe the extra set is a must to wedge it up while you align the brackets and then secure them.

To the OP, thanks for the review. I echo the performance and quality statements you made.
