I'm considering ED since I have family all over germany including Munich.

I'm also considering financing.

So if i'm doing ED you mean that BMW would receive the first payment earlier since I'll be paying them at Welt?
What I meant was if you take delivery of the vehicle in Canada then BMW has to wait for the car to be delivered to you in Canada before they see the money from you. Where as if you do a ED delivery there is no wait time(or a shorter wait time) for BMW to get the money. It is a small thing but when you apply that to the no of vehicles they sell it is a big thing.
Also ED means BMW is not blocking the money. It is like a custom order made for a client and it is a sure thing. Where as when they ship a car to the dealer ship they are making a car and blocking their Capital and they don't know when they will sell the vehicle.

Perfect! Thanks G-Mach1...i understand fully now. So where can we find the potential savings from ED if the dealer seems to be less inclined to be upfront?

I am not sure where we can find that info. I called BMW Canada yesterday and they gave me the same info as what the dealer is. According BMW CA it is a unique wxperience and you get the Road Hazzard kit. There is no price difference as per BMW CA.

Don't hold you breath if you think you will get savings...

If you want to put it this way, if you are doing a ED and at the same time plan on seeing some parts of Europe then you save on the rental car for about 2 weeks (max free insurance given by BMW) then you will surely save on car rental since you are driving your car and not renting a car.

But then again if you have to pay for your flight, hotel, food, etc... then in the end after calculating all your expenses you may end up spending more.

this might be a really dumb question, but can you not just got to USA dealer and buy a ED car from them and get all the savings that way? or do you HAVE to be a US citizen?

I'm not sure where some are getting the "no savings" info from? For the 335d, the base price was 49,100 and the ED was 44,700, so that was a 4,400 savings. The CA even gave me a print out with the standard pricing, the ED and the diplomat pricing.

The only reason I didn't do ED was that there was a car in stock at the dealer and there were a few days left of the Cdn $3000 discount. The dealers have the pricing sheet and the ED option is a fixed savings. Walk to another dealer if the dealer won't tell you the BMW ED pricing.

Don't know about the 2010s, though.

As for 2010 ED there is no price difference. I saw the pricing and I even called BMW Canada and they did confirm that as well.

$4,400 savings? Sure but did you plan on paddling the car back here? Did you find out how much it costs to ship it? There are other fees involved as well. A friend of mine looked into it extensively and in the end he would have saved a few hundred dollars.
