Just bought a 335i touring - few questions

Hello everyone

Yesterday I finally got my down payment down on my 335i m sport touring Get it 1st week of December, and got 15% discount after much negotiation, which I was happy with.

Specified it as follows;

335i M sport touring (manual)
Metallic black, red brown leather
Sat nav pro
Speaker package
Heated seats
Visibility pack
Panoramic sunroof
USB
Storage pack
Tinted rear windows
Dimming/folding mirrors

I haven't added the sliding armrest, and was wondering is it advisable with the manual for a better driving position? Just didn't like the idea of spending 120 or more on a added sliding armrest..

That is the first question for now

Thanks
James

Hi Welcomes (saw you on PH).

I added this to my 335d as I personally found the arm rest to be just slightly too far away to get my elbow on it and have my hand on the wheel. I don't have it in my 320d and it doesn't bother me

IIRC it was 140 as a part, so not a huge difference. Take the car, you might not need it.

Cheers! That is what I am concerned about also, the auto in the showroom felt uncomfortable, it was in park though.. will the manual sit quite a bit further back in neutral?

Thanks lee, it was Cooper Croydon Tried one other dealer and they were at almost 38k. Took some doing though

Steevie, looking good, what a tease!

Do you have a sunroof what interior did you go for? Would love to see a picture of the 1100 sunroof as I cant see one online!

Are you speccing bluetooth? This also provides the voice function.

I would recommend you do as it can be quite an issue for resale. I almost bought a 335d Touring last year - it was fully loaded, prof nav, pano roof, logic 7, the lot - but didn't have bluetooth. I looked into retrofit but it is quite diffficult and expensive - not having BT was the only reason I didn't buy the car, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

There are quiet a few pics of the pano sunroof on the E91 picture thread.

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

Just looked at my invoice and under sat nav pro it says;

620 voice control
633 bluetooth phone prep + telematics

So looks like sat nav pro has them both included now??

Don't want a car with no bluetooth / voice control!!

Cheers,
James

sorry, on the invoice it says media package BMW professional

I guess this allows me to get into the car, it will 'pair' with my phone and can take calls/ use the idrive to look at contacts etc..?

Thanks
James

Yes,

You need to check phone compat at BMW.co.uk - some phones are more compat than others. As an example with an iPhone it syncs the address book so you can use Idrive to select a number. It also works with voice - so you can say "Call XXX Mobile", or "Call XXX Home" and it will dial and even select the right number from several under e.g. XXXs contact details (eg. in this case home or mobile, or whatever you decide to call it).

You don't have to get the phone out of you pocket for any of this, but I put a cradle in the centre armrest so it charges the phone and also connects the Audio AUX out so I can use the iPod through the stereo. My car doesn't have USB. Regular charging of iphones is vital as you tend to use them so much.

Thanks for the feedback

I have an iphone so that's great news, and yep, did not think that the USB option will be good to charge the rubbish iphone battery.

Hi James- great spec and youre going to love the car. I have the sliding armrest and for just over 100 i cannot reccommend it enough. with the seat at its lowest position and angled upwards the armrest is in the perfect position for your left elbow and i wouldn't be without it.

heres a few pics of mine:

Good man! You'll love it. Another 335i tourer with red/brown leather too!

Defo go for the armrest, it's not so much for changing gear as in 2nd, 4th and 6th the stick is too far back anyway, for a spirited drive I always push the extension back else it can get in the way.

It's perfect for m-way cruising so you can keep both hands on the wheel and still rest both elbows, one on the door armrest and other on the centre armrest.

Without it the amrest is just a bit too far back to still reach the wheel, i'm 6 foot too so i don't suffer with short arms!!

I have a sliding armrest and never use it in the forward position, I find the corner digs into my arm in just the wrong place, 120 no way, save your money

Sunroofs are shite man...

Cost a packet, weighs a tonne, reduce rigidity, too noisy to use when moving, it either rains in or the sun is too hot and burns your head. pointless.

It another daft UK fetish, like ragtops.
