iDrive Service menu

For quite a while since after I bought my car, I remember having seen the microfilter and spark plugs on my iDrive service menu as well as the OBD. Now, I see Engine Oil, Vehicle Check, State Inspection, Front Brakes, Rear Brakes and Brake Fluid but don't see spark plugs or microfilter anymore. Could this be due to a software update?

i would appreciate if other members here could please tell me what options y'all see on your iDrive or OBD service menu. Thanks!

If you had those options before, but they are gone now, it has to be a software update.

Okay, I believe the recommended replacement intervals for the 328i spark plugs is 100,000 miles and the microfilter is 30,000 miles. Now that these two items have been wiped off the service menu by a software update and if my car does need these items to be replaced before the recommended intervals, will the OBD or iDrive show a notification? Can anyone answer this question?

Okay, I just happened to be perusing the TIS the other night (I'm funny like that) and came across this very issue. Microfiter (cabin) and spark plugs were indeed removed from CBS beginning 03/2007. Of course, it also states that "vehicles produced before the change are not affected", which I personally would interpret to mean even if updated. Now mine was updated with Progman v2.5.1 in 5/2007 and it still has them, FWIW. Also, TIS states that they are now "coupled to a multiple of the oil service".

If it's any consolation, I don't think the car would ever call for an interval sooner than what you've cited, even pre-update. Do keep in mind I'm not a tech, or connected in any way to BMWNA or BMW AG. So I really don't know what I'm talking about; I'm just some guy on the Interweb.

I'm at 25,400 miles now and have a vehicle inspection due in about 4500 miles. I think they will change the microfilter, but I will ask the question when I take my car in.

I still don't see why they needed to remove it. Maybe it kept telling people that the cabin filter needed to be done and people were just bring their cars in just for that.
