On top of many mentioned earlier, I would like BMW to move the channel select buttons from the right side to the left. I find that I change channels or tracks much more often than I change the volume. I have a stick so I usually have my right hand on the shifter. Cars that I have had or driven had the channel buttons on the left side. The cruise control buttons were usually on the right.

There should be a little hole or gap in the armrest for wires to poke out. I have a stereo cable for an MP3 player and a USB power plug coming out of the armrest and I have to smash the wires in order to close the armrest.

A sunglass holder would be nice.

Standard autodimming rearview mirrors.

Etc. etc.

You are so right about the window switches...I hate pulling up to someone and rolling down the rear window inadvertently. Its happened 3 our four times and I've only had the car for a month or so!

I still can't believe that they do not have dual exhaust on all bmw models.

This was changed for the 2009 MY. The window switches were moved back a few inches.

One more:

We should be able to change from FM to FM2 to AM on the steering wheel. Why BMW doesn't give this I'll never know.

2 – Have a dedicated dimmer for iDrive just like any other car in the world. Who wants to go through 4-5 step into menu to dim the LCD?

3 – Have a dedicated button to deactivate Bluetooth just like my previous Infiniti. Once you are using Bluetooth, you can not switch to hand set.

4 – Heated seats are ridiculously too storing. Even at the lowest level I feel like my but is being fried.

5 – Although I never use, cruse control is hidden behind the steering wheel. Couldn’t be designed any worse.

6 – The sport seats are too narrow for me. I have a wide back and I like I am being squeezed even at the widest setting

7 – Do Need to mentioned about HPFP, RF tires?

8 – 19” wheel should be part of Sports package. It is greedy ob BMW to charhe additional $1000 for 19” wheel on top of Sport package

9 – Comfort Access should be standard like Nissan does

10 – Why do I need to pull the door handle twice to open the door from inside? Do people fall of from their cars while driving non BMW cars?

11 – Too many rattles

12 – Worst paint quality than Accord

13 – Outdated interior design

To sum up, pretty much everything related to design. Engine, transmission, handling and other moving parts are good.

and you still bought the car?

I wanted to have a sports vert with useable rear seats. This gives me very little choices. Off course, I was not aware of most of these problems except RFT. Bu as I said I am happy with power train and moving parts. But no one can deny the fact that BMW is extremely poorly designed car

Looks silly when the conditions are not calling for using them. In Europe you can get a ticket for that.

1. Add A2DP (BT stereo) to the audio system - or make it open source for us to play with

2. Put the directional indicators lower on the dash for the steering wheel not to block them.

3. Design a phone/nav/PDA mount (or a possibility to install one) into the interior in a seamless way.

4. Windows/sunroof close on a button press on the remote.

5. Tunnel mode (like in MB) - pressing and holding the REC button for 3 sec closes all windows and the sunroof; the second application restores the original state of the above.

In many states here in the US (including MA) it's illegal and you can get a ticket for it.

Yea, I find that my BMW is the most ergonomically correct and intuitive car I've driven. Try driving a Merc S-Class, where you have to take almost your entire hand off the steering wheel to reach the turn signal controls, or the Infiniti G37, where you have to lean completely out of your seat in order to reach and operate the navigation controls, or any modern Lexus, where you must come to a complete stop before you can use any of the navigation controls.

And people say BMW's are poorly designed...

I can deny it. It has things that could be improved but I still think it's great.

I find that some things that people want changed I DON'T want. That's how it always goes though.

Examples:

Dedicated buttons for... everything: My Infiniti had that. I far prefer the simplicity of the BMW design and very rarely do most people need to adjust gauge brightness and such stuff.

Cruise control. I love the cruise control controls. It took me a bit to get used to, but now I prefer them over any car I've had. Please BMW, don't change them too much if it all.

Interior design: Again, I love the simplicity. I wish it maybe were a bit more driver oriented, but it's pretty nice already.

Making all options standard. That's just going to raise the base price and force people into things that many of them may not want.

The dash item positioning. If you have the steering wheel and seat height at a good position this is fine. For me it's perfect since it works just right with the seat height all the way down and a little leaned back.

And lastly, I don't think anyone suggested it, but PLEASE don't drop the NA 6. If my options change to a Turbo 4/ Turbo 6, I'll have to rethink my next vehicle. Especially if the major issues currently outstanding are still there.

Things I'd change (mostly a list of things that already exist:

Unlock door method (two pulls)

Leg extensions on the standard seats

vented seats/coolers and not just heat

Paint quality does seem a bit low/prone to chipping

Upgrade both base and logic-7 stereo systems. The base is horrible, and Logic-7 sounds like the it should be the base in a car this nice.

Polarization on non idrive

Full 3 zone climate option (might not be worth it with the size of the back seat?)

Brake squeal/dusting. I know some people are against ceramics, but there are some good brands out there and with OEM rotors they should be much quieter and give similar performance to stock minus fading if you don't know how to drive down a long canyon.

Maybe add an option for HUD.

I actually drive with my fog lights on most of the time as well. That little bit of extra light right in front of the car helps me avoid the thousands of pot holes in the ny/nj area.

I have driven anything from 18 wheelers to busses, from Crown Victorias to S500s... This BMW is the only street vehicleI have ever driven/seen taht does NOT have a dedicated dimmer for dashboard ligths.

Has anyone seen one???
