Need help choosing Running Shoes
Hi All,
I was wondering if any of you people have recommendations on which running shoes are good? I have an arched foot (not flat footed) and my feet are wider than normal, and I want something that I can casually go out and jog, that won't hurt my feet or knee's. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

wider feet - try new balance or adidas
nikes and asics run narrower try a bunch on at the shoe/running store and go with what fits. in general, buy a running shoe 1/2 size to 1 size larger than your dress shoe - your toes need some room

Nike Air Zoom Victory or Nike Pegasus. Both great running shoes. I've ran over 400 miles in my latest pair of Air Zoom Victory's and they still work kind of. I know I need new running shoes.

It's really tough to recommend things for other people, as what works for one person doesn't work that well for another. That said, these worked well for me when I was running more (about 20k a week):

New Balance.
I have a pair for the gym, turf shoes from when I played lacrosse, and like 4 pairs of their 574 classic shoe for kicking it around town.

New Balance 749, Asics Nimbus and or 2140's are good. Also look into getting an insoles for the sure, they make ones specifically for people with high arches.
Don't get Nike Shox... they are the worst type of running shoes. |

I don't think all Nikes are crap, there are a whole lot of serious runners that would disagree with you there. The shox suck for running though, I think most people agree on that.

I like Asics and Saucony's, but like others have said - go to a specialty running store, get them to assess your gait, and they will fit you with the correct shoe.
wow - bimmers and running - my two favourite things in the whole wide world, have now come together (sort of) all thanks to e90post. ![]()

I burn through running shoes like there's no tomorrow because I'm in the Army and do a lot more running than I'd like (minimum of 10 miles per week). I've tried several different brands and my top three are asics, brooks, and mizuno in no particular order. If width is an issue, def check out some of the offerings from brooks. JM.02

Kind of a weird question to ask on a forums like this if you ask me.
But here you go; ![]() I love my Adidas especially the porsche design. For running Asics are the best though.

what kind of knee problems? if it is something serious, certain shoes might be better...if they just get sore you might try using osteobiflex or the generic equivalent. I'm not even 26 yet and I'm hooked on it for helping with joint pain.
