OK guys, for the 3rd time: How many hp is the gain, and how many torque?

Stock is 306BHP and 400Nm @ 1300-5000rpm.

What exactly are you looking for? The gains are shown in the dyno graph, so are you looking for torque conversions or do you want estimated flywheel hp?

Impressive indeed. I like this car and platfrom alot. 2 Quick questions and sorry for not searching for them before asking them here:

1. What size are the stock injectors (flow cc/min w/stock FPR)? What is your IDC @ the max HP you acheived? I am curious what is the max HP the stock injectors can supply (I know it depends on fuel used as well) before running out of fuel. What/Where is the aftermaket as far as larger injectors? I am pretty sure this is direct injected into the cylinder; hence I wonder the availability of aftermarket injectors.

2. Max flow rate of the each one of the stock turbochargers (lb/min)? Again I understand this depends on the effciency as well. So not sure if compressor efficiency map is available or better turbine flow rate as well.

I am curious about IDC's as well. I wonder also about this fuel pump. How is it handling that high of torque/ boost down low. It is atleast nice to know that the turbo's can never over boost though.

I doubt there are many injectors available just yet, if any.

Hi there-- With BMW's direct injection system, fuel pressure varies from several hundred psi to a few thousand psi. So, as you can imagine, a static pressure fuel flow test on the standard injector wont give us too much useful information. However, our testing has shown that there is more than enough fuel supply at the power levels we're achieving right now. Is there enough for 400whp? I don't know.. we'll see when we get there. If there isn't, we'll work on a solution. At this time, swapping out the standard DI injector for higher flowing units may not be an option. Can't exactly call up RC Engineering and order a set, now can we

As for turbo flow rates/compressor maps, this info is going to be held by BMW and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries alone. I'd be surprised if they ever make their way to the public. We can certainly make estimates based upon power data, charge temps, backpressure levels, etc, but that is all they are going to be... estimates. Besides, compressor and turbine maps are there to give a designer a better idea of what turbo best fits the application he is working on. With the 335i, what we get is what we get. All we can do is keep stepping it up and note when we start to witness hardware limitations. So far, we've not stumpled upon any. But I'm sure we will eventually. And then the real fun begins!

One last question: If the turbo has been taken apart (by anyone); knowing the inducer/exducer (i.e. major/minor diameters) of compressor wheel and turbine wheel should somewhat provide more information (again both depend on A/R as well). Also this must be known already the inlet diameter?

I will search and find out on my own if the EM uses single or dual MAF

I think it'll be hard for anyone to get any accurate performance data of the turbo by looking at wheel measurments. The turbos are of special material, built by Mitsu for BMW, for high heat resistance. I suspect that unique bit alone will make the turbos perform differently to comparable sized turbos with similar sizings.

Btw, the car runs a T-MAP sensor in the IC pipe upstream of the throttle body. No MAF anywhere

Wow cool! I almost put single or dual MAF...no way MAP!!! This thing is looking better and better . Turbos I assume are dual-ballbearing/water-cooled sections? but I could be wrong again!

Maybe its time to trade in the ol_benz

55 whp and 62 wtorque increases are incredible to say the least.

I wonder how much faster 0-60 it is and what 1/4th mile times it gets compared to stock :-p

If I end up getting a 335i instead of getting an M3, then I'll probably get this chip

Okay.. there it is:

Take 4-- We've been looking at different installation options. All are reasonably simple for a novice end user to do. We'll even make an installation video to facilitate the process (whatever it is).

At this point, we're looking at intercepting the necessary wires right at the ECU. The ECU is located in the upper left (passenger side) portion of you engine pay, under the plastic cowl that covers your HVAC filters. It's in a nifty rubber sealed enclosure. What's nice is that right next to the ECU, is a little "slot" that is perfectly sized for the Xede. From here, we can route the wires to the cabin for the map switch and external LED status light. Right now, I'm just waiting on the neccessary ECU connectors. And I'm also beating the tar out of the car

Shiv, Out of curiousity what other kind of data can the XEDE read from the ECU/whatever. Can it be setup so I can put some sort of view screen and read performance data etc?

Maybe you can also mount the switch and LED at the bottom row of buttons (for those who dont have Heated Seats, PDC, Rear Sunshade)?

The Xede has its own Windows based programming/viewing software. It can be downloaded from here: http://www.vishnutuning.com/secret/X...20V3_2_0_7.zip

Here's a screen shot of Lotus Elise turbo map we tuned a few weeks ago.


The main screen shows a histogram of selected data (RPM, TPS, Air/Fuel, timing change, boost pressure, wastegate duty %, etc,.) The Xede can also datalog at a very high 100 samples/second which is quick enough to do smooth road dyno testing if that is your thing.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think it would be possible to easily monitor the Oil temp? Also on that subject since you are running a richer AFR have you seen any decrease in engine temps? With more and more people posting about possible overheating issues I wonder if the car running so lean stock could be really impacting the oil temp.
