Showing Gains or running like junk

It seem to me that there are guys that don't seem to know that there cars are running like junk till they get there dyno sheets. And since getting to the dyno isn't likely every time we get a new pretty piece on our cars I just wanted to put out an obvious but overlooked way to Gage weather your car is running like junk or if the new tune did its work.
Get a Gtech or software on ur new phone do a 0-60 stock after each tune then u can go back and say damn I'm running like junk or no I'm just used to how damn fast my car is and now I need a jet strapped to my car also.

This has helped me many times to see if its me or the car isn't running right. Its just an easy way without having to go get the car dynoed..also will let u know NOW is the time to spend money on my cars dyno because i just ran a 3.8sec 0-60. Not completely fallible but a tool we can all use easily.

I have used Dyno software on my iPhone for just this reason. It has helped a lot.

Before the software, I would have to go to the track to see if anything has changed.

My butt dyno tells me if something has changed. That and I listen to the engine.

Guys who are really in tune to there engines will know, but the " Sunday tuners" need more concrete results. Plus when u through in that new filter and plugs a little early and feel like Yaa this baby is pulling u can see if its just a Placebo effect or real life.

One thing to consider is that prepping a car for a dyno does not necessarily translate to street performance. Unless the dyno is mimicking road conditions its an artificial environment. Airflow, and engine, and charge cooling are big factors in performance on these cars, and these are usually pretty crappy on the dyno if the fans aren't HUGE.

There is always the possibility that your car will perform better on the road then on the dyno. Also whenever you get a tune, you shouldn't just set it to the highest map possible, but first set it to the map the tuner recommends, and feel out the car. If then you want to raise it, do so and if you don't feel an improvement you should drop down a map or stage.

Just because some guy ran Map7 tune only and got 400rw power doesn't mean you do on map7 on your car. The highest map doesn't always make the most power so sometimes we have to fight the temptation to just turn it up all the way

Datalogging your car with a BT cable will tell you alot.. 100% worth the money esp since u can also clear codes.

One of the big issues I have seen with recent posts for people with tuned cars is that they are not getting before and after results on the same day. You need to do at least one pull on the stock tune then on the performance maps. If you only do a few pulls on the performance maps and see lower than typical results it may be because your car is making less power to begin with or the dyno you are on reads low

0 to 60 has many variables... Maybe 2nd gear 2000 to 6500 rpm timed pull would be better.

Yes it does have a lot of variable and the Gtechs while good tools do have issues with accuracy because they use an inertia switch which can get thrown off by tire spin and grade changes in the road if it is slightly downhill or uphill. i had one in the past and it can be frustrating sometimes because it will give vastly different readings from one run to another. they can work. I tried it at the track once, and it was off by .5 sec and 5mph compared to the track timing system.
