OK guys,
sorry about the late delay i have been away for a few days in Melb. I entered a quote of $114k as discussed. the RRP of this car is just a touch over $125k. I told them i was selling my trade-in privately in which i would get a much higher price. The auction starte pretty slowly and i was not feeling very confident. by 3pm the price had come down by about $300, and i considered my fee a total waste. with about 10 minutes to go, it started! I reckon i got about 35 emails, as you get an email for each bid, in 20 minutes! in total off RRP i got the car for $119,425 which is $6K+ off RRP. the best i got using Chris's technique was $3k. For $150 i will never speak to a dealer again in my life. Best thing and i dont have time for the bullshit or games. Guys... just use it.... i rate myself a very good negotiator, and i am sure you will all think you to be the same, but try it out, get your best price and plug it in, you dont have much to lose....... car is awhile away, but Worthingtons in Gosford ended up winning, they will deliver the car to me free of charge. They even offered to come down and view my tradein. overall the whole thing was very professional and got me where i could definitely could not have got doign it on my own. msg me if you have any questions, but its a pretty good system. |

moose, what options are you getting on your 335i?
how long have they given for you to sign up on the contract for the price to still be valid? |

betterdeal just facilitates a sale. the contract is between you and the dealer. any quibbles over defects on delivery you deal directly with the dealer.

For example Just heard from a friend (after i went to the not so good dealer today) that his E90 (from the same dealership I dislike) had large chips on the side door of his car. I guess he should have had a good look when he received it but he was too excited and drove it home. Then found the chips at home. Brought it back and they said you could have done that on your way home. My friend was sure it wasnt him, no clunk, relatively difficult area to chip by stone etc. So if that can happen with a local dealer, i was wondering what happens if its an interstate source? Maybe i am being too paranoid ![]() |

when i bought my 323 coupe in 2003, i bought it from adelaide, private sale, flew down to view, owner picked me up at airport, but it had been just serviced at adelaide motors so i picked it up from there, was so excited, dropped it off to TNT transport who did an external defects check prior to accepting the car, noted a scratch on the passengers side door, i thought i didn't see this when i first picked it up, later asked the owner about it who said he thought it might have been a tree branch some time during his ownership. so yes, pays to do a "handover" check prior to buying something!!
That's the only problem i see with betterdeal...if the best deal comes from a dealer 130km away it's a big drive to have them check on a "small rattle" etc |

Why pay more for nothing?
|
120K+ insurance is too much money for the 335, i've driven one and for a long time sat looking at it...I wondered what it would look like in a bodykit hmmm and even so, still doesn't warrant the cost.
I would get an e46 M3. Btw, BMW claim 0-100 in 5.5 sec, i REALY doubt it can.

Initial words from betterdeal:
"I have spoken to some dealers and I think it would be advisable to include interstate dealers into the auction. The main reason for this is that, as you would understand how popular these cars are. Dealers have certain stock allocations, so by having more dealers its likely that they would be able to supply a car to you within a shorter time frame." i'll be interested to see how tight BMW are holding their stock given it looks like NSW dealers will be bidding. It then will become difficult logistically trying to register the vehicle from interstate should a NSW dealer win. Last edited by danielt; 10-30-2006 at 03:18 AM. |

best final price $117,000 (from a NSW dealer) + on road costs of $2,300 Qld stamp duty and ~$800 CTP... that was 335i/metallic paint/steptronic/paddles/sunroof and delivery ... starting price ~$124,000 drive away including those options
