335d Questions

Hi guys,

Am still looking round for a good 335d E92 and have decided to wait til Jan. The question I wanted to ask has come from talking to one of my good friends who is a prestige car salesman with his own business. He was basically telling me that he would not have a new styled BMW as they have so many electrical problems. I personally have never heard this, but he insists that even the 6 series he had himself had problems as BMW have sub contracted the electrics to a french company.

Does anyone share his view? Or do I have nothing to worry about?

thanks guys

Was he trying to sell you something else? I've never heard of any common electrical problems with E9x's.

I've not had any issues, or have seen anything on here giving those sorts of indicators.

What sort of specification/mileage/age are you after?

Perhaps you'd like to ask him to be more specific, 'electrical problems' covers a pretty broad spectrum of alleged faults.

I got my first new 335D in Oct 07, part/exed it for a newer model two mths ago, I had no problems whatsoever in the older one(37k mls), and none to date in the one I have now.

well I think it will probably be an 07 or 57. Not bothered if its an msport or se but I suppose id prefer the m sport. I love my gadgets so Id want it fully spec'd up inside. Colour I am open to, would always look at any car.

So i suppose its just the 19" alloys i need to worry about

The current BMW might have some common electrical issues as most of the cars have nowadays. However, it's nothing considerable at all. I, myself have had same electrical problems but they were easily solved and the causes were mechanical anyway. If you want to see real electrical issues go to a Fiat dealership service....

Not electrical per se, more like ECU's playing up and lighting everything up like a xmas tree inside the cabin disabling the car, but then these issues should have been sorted on cars 07/57 plate.

My old one was fine although I only had it 7 months. A couple of niggly things but would have been sorted if I'd have kept it.

Only issues I've had have been a wing mirror that kept losing position settings and the iDrive crashed a couple of times. Both cured with a software update, so I wouldn't consider as electrical issues.

I'm contemplating changing mine, currently 36k miles on a '57 (Jan 08) plate.

Pics in 'my garage' - likely to have 18'' MV3's instead of 230's if I sell it

Got my E92 335D in Nov 2006.

Apart from a wee wobble by the belt butler once, which was swiftly repaired under warranty, no problems whatsoever. Fully loaded with electrical options and no glitches.
