JB3+Meth does 120mph vbox on 91 octane!

Okay, so whats better than doing 119.5mph on meth + 93 octane? How about 120mph on meth + only 91 octane! Yes, I ran down the tank of gas several times since the track, so pretty sure there was no more high octane left in the tank.

You can see the meth in action here on the video: IAT starts at around 80F, goes all the way down to about 66F, and then tops out around 90F at 130mph. Normally it would be about 130F, so about a 40F temp reduction!

(remember this is staying in 2nd gear all the way from a standstill to 60mph fighting traction)

12.3 sec ET at 120.00 mph
8.8 sec 0-100 mph. (For reference, a 556hp Supercharged 6.0L CTS-V doesn't do it any quicker.)
A LS3 Vette is about 9.5 seconds.

10.3 sec 60-130 mph upper end acceleration

This is with lazy 2nd gear launch, pass seat still out, BMS DCI installed, but still stock intercooler, stock exhaust/cats, and stock downpipes. And of course Meth.

This meth is great stuff. Phenomenal performance on pump gas!

Well, Meth is a "small little mod", isn't it?? LOL. AND I got the BMS Dual Cones now.
Again, even on my DD map#7, it runs 118mph traps.

Okay, so I put a little 100 octane in to see if it improved traps much over 120 mph. As I thought, it really doesn't seem to make much of a difference running high octane when your running Meth. I think perhaps I am at the level where my exhaust, intercooler, are probably becoming a bottleneck. Nevertheless, its awesome to be performing just as well as some of the other fully modded bolt on 335i BMWs.

12.3 sec ET at 120.6 mph (still soft 2nd gear launch on 19" Generals, 380 Tread rating)
9.9 sec 60-130mph.

The 60-130mph acceleration is pretty significant, and I backed it up with more than one run. The DBN files were submitted to the M3 forum moderator who examines the file for official inclusion in their 60-130mph listing. He checks to make sure there isn't too much road slope, etc. My run made the grade and is now included in their official listing. Its hard enough accelerating 0-70mph for some cars. Can you imagine accelerating the same 70mph spread starting at 60mph? Much more difficult.

FYI here is a 60-130mph list of some popular high performance cars:
(This list courtesy of member DLSJ5)

9.5 - Porsche 997TT
9.78-BMW 335i JB3 Hotrod 182
10.06 - 996TT with ECU flash / 1 shift
10.1 - Ferrari F430
10.3 BMW 135I, JB3 BMS
10.3 - BMW M6, stock, 2 shifts
10.48 - BMW E60 M5, stock, 2 shifts
10.48 - C63 AMG with headers and flash
10.80 - BMW E92 M3, Bolt Ons, DCT, 3 shifts
10.9 - Lamborghini Murcielago
10.97 - Nissan GT-R
11.02 - BMW RDS46 Stroker E92 M3, 6mt, 2-shifts
11.0 - Shelby GT500, stock, 2-shifts
11.7 - Ferrari Challenge Stradale
11.87 -997 GT3 RS
12.1 - Lamborghini Gallardo
12.1 E55 AMG Stock
12.2 - 996tt stock
12.64 - Stock DCT E92 M3
12.9 - Stock 6MT E92 M3 Coupe
13.7 - Stock E46 M3 (freak car) / 1 shift
14.3 - Stock E39 M5 / 1 shift

So its nice to know that our cars are not just low end torque monsters. People are beginning to discover that the N54 is capable of hanging right in there with some pretty respectable competition even at upper speeds.

For those of you with a Vbox, share your 60-130mph numbers on here. Totally takes out of the equation: bad traction, bad launch, etc.

Can't turbo cars kinda cheat by brake boosting for a 60-130mph time? Altho it would make no sense for our 335i's since 60MPH is 6600RPM in 2nd gear.

I don't think it would make a difference since it is just the time taken from the time split, DURING my qtr mile run.

The Vbox is just set up to measure the time between those MPH points.

Wow.. Nice runs.

Your car is just screaming for some downpipes LOL Like others have mentioned I can't believe you haven't slapped some other mods on in the last few months, but I guess meth counts as a mod. I think you are probably the only tune only car running meth though

Also it is important to note, this was not in 45F temps. These tests were at 67F. And yesterday at 77F temps, I noticed how awesome the car pulled. I am telling you, it seems like the car is adapting to the meth and getting stronger and stronger. The throttle response even on my 91 octane daily driver map #7 is incredible. You give it 1/4 throttle, and the thing is so eager to push you back in the seat!

I haven't done any major mods such as intercooler, or down pipes, just because at the moment I am happy to have mods that can be removed and returned totally stock in about an hour. Just in case.

Also, I made about 20 1/4 mile runs at the track, and did the 300 mile round trip on about 1 gallon to meth/water. So about about $5 in meth. Much cheaper than using race fuel!

Also on the way back home from the track, I averaged 31.3 mpg from the base of the Grapevine all the way back to Vent County. (90 miles)

I wanted to know since the ambient temps are dropping for me sometimes to 20 degrees to 32 degrees, how effective will cooling be with meth since its already cold outside....I mean even without meth, my car runs soo much better in the winter time...My question if its like 32 degrees outside, wouldn't it be more effective at this point when the temps are that cold to use more concentration of meth over water?

Even in colder temps, extended high boost will cause the temps to rise above 110F or so by the time you hit 120mph. So the meth will definitely be a benefit. You may not have to have it trigger on till about 10-12psi perhaps.

i didn't know when people publish 60-130mph times they aren't starting at a constant speed of 60mph then accelerating haha.

Yup, just full blown acceleration, and see what your car is capable of for the 70mph spread. Unfortunately the 335i is just shifting into 3rd right around 60mph. I intend to get a little quicker and pass up 2 of the supercharged E46 M3 times on the list.

Its one of the best tools to have. I might go and make a dozen runs doing testing. Just more practical than a dyno at times, and real world results. '

I always take my Vbox to the track, and already know how my run is before I get my timeslip.

The thing about a 60-130mph if you are full throttle from a stand still, I'm sure you will have a little more heat build up. Either way, I just do a full qtr mile run and then stay on the throttle till I hit 130mph.

The Vbox will beep soon as I hit 130mph.
