Does anyone else spin wayy too much when slamming 2nd gear?

My mods are listed in my sig... I have not been to the track yet but based on the amount of wheelspin I get going into 2nd I think it would really hurt my times.. I don't have the best tires "General Exclaim UHP's" 265/30/19 in the rear, but earlier I slammed 2nd gear at about 6200rpm and the car started drifting sideways spinning the tires and it left a trail of smoke behind.. I mean it was cool and I like doing it sometimes but it won't help in a race or at the track.

I have noticed that if I shift closer to redline I get less wheelspin, strange I would think the opposite.

My general UHP's would spin through 2nd... those tires suck for grip... the stock runflats were almost as good if not better.... Get some new tires

Ya, I was thinking better tires would help quite a bit.. I have always ran Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position's, great tire!

the track is stickier than the streets, you shouldn't spin as much as you would on the streets. air temps also play a role as well as tire pressure.

Since you have a Procede, why don't you just reduce the 2nd Gear Torque Map setting till you gain control of wheelspin..............might save you having to go the expense of replacing tires.

I ran 275s on my old 335 and it helped in the spinning department. Even so, after the addition of the intercooler, rolling into the car in 2nd gear would cause it to light the tires up at about 4k rpm if the weather was in the low 60s or cooler.

Now I spin my 325s well above 70 mph if I'm not careful

From my experience, on a 6mt car which I have, wheel spin goes all the way through 3rd on the race map and even 4th get loose on the rear. And when I ran hoosiers all that went away and the car hooked and booked. Next, I broke 3 axles from hooking the car too much... 4k clutch launches snapped the axle on the drivers side. Really wish I had lsd. And the axles started breaking after I took out the cdv. Because that burnt up 3 of my clutches. Gotta pay to play though. I did get the car to run 11.84 wich is 2nd on drag times. But I gave up after breaking 3 axles and sold my hoosiers lol

Also, when I shift to 2nd the car does get sideways and is not even worth drag racing some one with street tires because of this. 1st and 2nd gear are useless on street tires with a 6mt if you want to drag race.

I wish I had known that they made the coupes in all wheel drive, I didnt find that out until I bought my car and joined this forum.. But it would have probably been even harder to find a manual XI coupe..

The quaife helps a bit but also makes it a handfull when you do start to spin . I think with the Tq and power we make its going to be tough to get it to hook on perfprmance street tires.

The majority of your problem is coming from thin sidewall tire. Your 30 series tires is not absorbing the power/torque. Is there any way you can fit a 40 series tire?? That would help tremendously.
Its not the width of a tire.. its the thickness of sidewall that helps.
