Real world fuel mileage from 335i owners

I would like to see a poll of average, worst and best fuel mileage figures from all of you new 335i owners. Add your average speed calculated by the OBC too, if it's not too much trouble. I'm curious to see if these cars can be as fuel efficient as their N/A cousins.

I would say that although the EPA estimate may be off, it can be used for comparison. Isn't the 335 in a stick 19/29? That would be as good as the n/a motors I'd think. When I test drove the 335 the readout said 16 mpg, which seems reasonable as the test drives are all city and people tend to push the cars a little.

335i coupe gas mileage

I just completed a 1000 km trip through the coastal range mountains to the Okanagan and return. The 335i gas mileage ranged from 30.5 mpg to 38 mpg; average for the trip was 34.4 mpg (imperial gallons).
The car's performance is phenomenal even though I am limiting it to 4500 rpm until I hit the 2000 km mark. The 355i will climb mountians effortlessly in 5th or 6th gear ! Ambient temperatures varied from +20C to -0.5C and the engine oil temperature never exceeded 115C .

Over the first 1000 km, including some rather fun fast driving in the Alps and the autobahns, and some city driving in Munich, my E90 335 averaged about 25mpg. I avoid using AC when posssible. And I glide up to red lights.

that's not bad for a 335.. I am get 16 around town in NYC in a 325xi.. but when I drove to lake george I got around 20-21. Still, 16 is pretty bad and I am pretty easy on the gas most of the time. Maybe it's the xi. Looks like they managed to get more performance without losing mpg

Averaging just under 22 mpg in mixed 50/50 City/Fwy driving. I tend to have a heavy foot as well. Range is about 330 miles before 30 mile warning/indicator comes on.

I mix performance driving with coasting.
20/80 mix

4-8 mpg when performing (says the computer)
99.9 mpg when coasting

23.5 MPG Avg total since inception. I have about 820 miles on car with a mix of highway, light city and rural driving. I have to admit, I have been heavy on the throttle on starts off the line. Actually had a Jetta try to race me, not a good idea (for him anyway!)

07 BMW 335

I have had my E92 for about a month and a half and have about 1800 miles. I am getting about 19 mpg..Is that low for my 335I...What octane gas is everyone using? I read an article online that said you should not use 91 octane. Help me out...Trying to acheive maximum octane.

I don't know where you read do not use 91 octane fuel for the 335i. In fact, the 335i engine (N54) require a higher octane fuel than the N52 engine. So use only 91 octane or more for best efficiency and performance.

Many may wonder how the addition of two turbos in the engine did not cause a significant drop in fuel economy. It's all because of the 2nd Generation Direct Injection technology. And this is exactly the reason or 'excuse' that BMW used to explain their return to the use of turbos.
