Need advice: Purchase extended warranty?

Hey guys,

New to the forum here, had my 07 335i coupe for a couple months now....purchased it with 38k miles on it. I am currently up to about 43k on it and I am now trying to figure out if I need the extended warranty or the service contract. I searched this topic and it seems the 07's had a couple kinks so I was thinking about simply getting the warranty extended.

I then heard stories of a brake job costing close to 1200 or so and Im thinking now for 2k the extended service plan my be a good idea....

My past experience with my 04 350z, 04 e46 M3, and most recently my 08 g37s, is that a warranty extension may not be a bad idea.....what do you guys think????

To me, it never seems worth it to get an extend warranty. It has never had me back. What I tell people is to take the money they would spend on the warranty and put it in a savings account. That way, if you need the money, you have it and if you don't, then you just saved yourself a couple grand.

As for a brake job costing 1200 dollars, that just seems nuts.

A brake job has nothing to do with warranty. It is maintenance. If you really think you'll need a brake job before your warranty period runs out, you could get the extended maintenance plan (adds additional 2 years or up to a total 100,000 miles on odo) from BMW. I am not sure what the extended maintenance plan costs these days but my bet is that it would be at least twice as much as what you mentioned the brake job would cost.
