I say you double side tape and fight it. What's the worse that can happen, you pay the fee and put the plate back on.

well, in this case, you were actually breaking the law, since there are signs posted that no parking on certain days for street sweeping, but you still parked there, so you deserved that citation.

for the OP, on the other hand, he got cited for a parking citation, yet he wasn't parked, he was actually moving, so technically, he can fight...and i think the fine amount is not the point, but rather the principle of it...if people just go ahead and continue to pay the fines without contesting, then these meter maids will continue to do that to generate the revenues for the city..but if enough people contesting, then perhaps they may change the law a little bit, i.e. making sure that the car is actually parked before writing the ticket..my 0.02.

just buy a rho-plate mount and not worry about drilling holes.
