Thinking of trading my 335 for an SLK55
Thoughts?
I'll be in my first year of college next year living in Los Angeles. I'm thinking of selling my 07 335 sedan and trying to do as close to an even trade as possible on an 06 SLK55. Upkeep costs dont really matter to me but at the same time I don't want to be paying totally out the ass on unforseen break downs. |

Possibly paying for a Mercedes much less an AMG out of pocket is scary. And to do so as a freshman in college is absurd, Horrible financial move IMO. |

not the smartest idea. I sold my z4 when i started going to UCF and glad i did so (even though i miss the car lots). I was thinking of getting a SLK55 when i was trading in my 325.
i've driven one, and loved every minute of it, but its not the best car to have while at school.

Don't. I also looked at one a while back and they really aren't that good, purely a cruiser and nothing else.
But that said, they do have a wicked exhaust note. |

Now if it was an SLK Black Edition then I would say go for it... they look and sound awsome!! But a regular SLK 55... nah.. you will hate the transmission.

Even the Black Series isn't that great. The problem is the basic chassis doesn't suit aggressive driving in the same way as BMW cars enjoy.

Keep ur e90. The only car from benz I'd get in ur situation now that's a amg would be the C63 but hte price for it would be too much in ur situation. Keep ur car for now man

theres one in Orlando like 2 hours away from my house. I think I'm going to go this weekend and check it out. I really want a V8 and I really want a convert. And I think of all the cars out there the SLK is the best choice.

I also view them as a chick car and am always curious if guys driving them know what other guys are thinking about them. I agree it's much less practical and in school it would be nice to have trunk space and a backseat for friends.

keep the 335i, it is way more practical anyway especially when you and all your buddies wanna go out on the town

The OP mentioned he was gay a few posts back. So I guess an SLK55 isn't too bad of an option for him at least. I'd say go for it.

CLK550 cab would be a better choice, imho. Still quick, has the gay and/or chick factor, more practical like the 335i, and reliability is decent. Used CPO prices are good. |

My final answer.
05 CLK55 AMG. 26K miles Asking 27K. You can practically steal these if you look. I just grabbed a decent one to show the OP there are better, IMO, choices than the SLK.

im not trying to drive a "gay" car. i just dont mind if one has that stigma. i agree the CLK is more practical, but dont you think the SLK is going to be more fun to drive than the CLK?
