Exhaust bypass valve and aftermarket exhausts

Has anybody tried adding the stock bypass valve to an aftermarket exhaust? I have tried a couple of different aftermarket exhausts and both sound great most of the time but the drone makes me nuts. Seems like it would be a pretty easy mod to simply cut the valve section out of the left exhaust pipe and have a muffler shop splice it into any exhaust.

Has anybody tried this?

Thanks

The only way I would see this working is if you had a shared muffler or crossover pipe between the mufflers, so that exhaust would re-route easily over to the other exhaust outlet when one is closed.

You might be able to add it up by the X/H-pipe in systems that have don't have a shared muffler or crossover pipe between the mufflers.

Obviously if you have a completely divorced exhaust system you would not want to.

did you try adding a resonator to the exhaust? I just installed some Vibrant Peformance resonators and it eliminated some of the drone...I am catless if that helps...

Hey Racey...you're right, it would have to include a cross-over pipe, but again that's a pretty easy mod for any competent muffler shop.

As for resonators, my current set-up has resonators and it's still annoying at certain RPMs.

The valve can be cut and relocated. I relocated mine on my stock exhaust to facilitate quad tips.
