In So Cal what would be a fair % to ask off MSRP?

You should get between 4-5% off MSRP, go for 5% and settle for 4.5%. Some people claim they got up to 7% off but they may have had a trade in or paid marketing fees to offset.

Just to add a data point, I'm finding it possible around San Diego to get about 4.7% off MSRP, including the various fees the dealers tack on.

Isn't it better to work from the invoice price up, rather than MSRP down. I realise it all comes out in the wash, but at least working from the invoice price the dealer knows you know what he's making. Just a thought....
