Steam coming off my bonnet!

Was stuck in a lot of traffic in the rain the other day and after 20 mins noticed steam coming off my bonnet.
Opened the bonnet today and there's no insulating pad underneath.
Is this normal for a 2007 model?

Neither my 07 vert or 09 M3 has insulation pads under the bonnet so yours is fine

Thanks for responding, but do yours ever 'steam' in traffic?

I'm only a few miles out of Stafford, I'll look out for your M3.

I was steaming in traffic the other day. The bonnet wasn't, though.

That's good. Otherwise it would probably eat right through to the engine block.

Little Haywood. Nearly came to the Sandon meet as it's only five minutes up the road, but had family 'stuff' to do that day.
Maybe the next one.....

Your not far awat at all, I come past that way often, as the outlaws live the other side of Colton.

I live just a five minute walk from the town centre. Shame you didn't make it to the meet, but as you say, maybe next time eh

Mine steams when in town.

I normally lay a steaming one at Membury or Reading services on M4 depends on how long I can hold out for....

You think that's bad - drive an S1 Elise and you have OTHER people telling you your car's on fire, because the rad is horizontally mounted and open to the elements.
