It's beyond beautiful ...

Thanks for the write-up too. I didn't get the iPod/USB either, mainly because I use CDs, but still I'm surprised to hear it doesn't work with the iPhone 4S. It almost sounds like it is defective.

I always wondered about the auto high beams as well. Interesting. I must say the headlights in this car are just amazing, so bright.

Looks like you're taking great care of the vehicle ... paint looks great.

Any mods planned?

Hi All,

I took delivery of my 335is in late June and have about 4,000 miles on her so far. Absolutely love the car, truly a joy to drive. Fast, luxurious, fun.

Here are the features and pics for your viewing pleasure.

'11 335is convertible

Le Mans Blue Metallic
Black Dakota Leather

* Convenience package
* Cold weather package
* Premium package
* 7-speed DCT
* Auto high beams
* iPod and USB adapter
* BMW Apps
* Navigation system
* Satellite radio
* Harman Kardon surround sound

* LoJack
* Venture Shield

After 4,000 miles, my thoughts on the car have changed quite drastically. I sold my '04 911 Carrera Cab in order to get something more luxurious, convenient, and updated (e.g., Bluetooth, sound, etc.). At first, I loved the car and was so impressed, but soon after, regretted giving up my P-car.

Now, I've returned back to being excited about the vehicle again. It's not even remotely close to driving like the 911, but I do enjoy being able to change from a coupe to a convertible with ease and all of the bells and whistles in the car make it a great choice as a fun daily driver.

I ordered the Le Mans Blue Metallic without seeing it in person and lucked out; I love the color. It really stands out and is perfect for a sporty car.

The comfort access keyless entry system annoys me at times. The trunk especially seems hard to signal that yes, I have the key in my pocket, please open. The unlocking/locking and starting of the vehicle usually works fine. I don't generally open/close the top with the remote, but when I do it sometimes stops mid-way. Very clumsy keyless system with a terrible range, but damn convenient, too. I don't know how to open a car door without it now.

The PDC system is great and I've also forgotten how to park and get out of tight spots without it! The rest of the features in the convenience package, cold weather package, and premium package are as one would expect and the same as in my previous '06 E90, so nothing really to write there. All great.

The automatic high beams, I've read, are slow to adapt. I live in a very tiny town and there aren't any lights on the road. The auto high beams are an absolute must around here and they work well. This is probably in my top 3 favorite features with the car as simple as it is. Really just helps in driving at night in my town. Recommended for the $250.

The iPod and USB adapter. Eh. Can't get it to work, though I do have an iPhone 4S. It seems to detect it, but nothing works. Wish I had not purchased this. The same with BMW Apps, though I haven't been able to use that for the iPod/USB reason.

The navigation system is not bad, but I wish the way to find locations and type on it was a bit more clever. It seems like it takes an incredibly long time to really use it. I wish BMW would partner with Garmin or something to make a great GPS. Actually, maybe they do and it's just dumbed down as to not cost Garmin sales. Who knows. Still, it does get me where I need to go and the entire iDrive system is pretty cool.

Pictures taken when I was at around 2,000 miles or so. Here's to another 4,000 miles! Enjoy.

Very sweet lookin IS and I even luv the color so congrats! I have the same radar detector with the same coiled cord and I don't like the look. I also have the long straight cord but that doesn't look all that hot either. Didn't know we could hard wire these in?!

Hey I've heard of people hard wiring in detectors in other cars but didn't know we could actually do it in ours without major work. So its possible without spending an arm and a leg??

Hardwiring the radar

I'm sorry for the very short description.

Yes hard wiring the radar detector in an e93 is very easy to do. If you look up at panel with the SOS button and lights, this is the spot. Pop this panel down with a screwdriver, easier when the roof is down and in the trunk if you ask me. After unclipping the sos/light panel you will to tap into one of the power wires of the lights. I forgot which one exactly but can be easily found online by googling it. Then tuck the hardwire remaining slack into this cavity. This should take care of the power situation. Then you can play around with the power wire to get it in the best position possible.

SilverII: Thanks! Yeah, I thought about hardwiring the radar detector. Though, I use it in another vehicle, too, so might leave it as is just out of convenience!

CJ421: Thanks man! You're right, I wonder if perhaps it is defective. I had an iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS and neither worked with it. I figured it was something that I was doing wrong, but it might just be the device itself needs to be looked at or returned. Bought it off eBay, probably my mistake right there (though I did buy it off a BMW dealership).

No mods planned, either. I'm a stock guy all the way. I do appreciate a good mod, but I have limited time and even more limited know how!

BuraQ, definitely! Glad to add my 335is to the mix!

Everyone else, thanks! Appreciate it. I do look forward to leaving the house, that's for sure.

Thanks guys! Absolutely love it. Such a pleasure to drive. Interestingly enough after 4,000 miles, I still have yet to test out the "Launch Control." Need to do that ASAP.

Though, not really any places near me that I could realistically do it. Do you guys that are able to do this have just abandoned stretches of road near you? Over here, it's either too residential (heavily populated) or too heavily patrolled by radar/police. Seems I can't win unless I go to a track.
