Help! First Bimmer!

Hi guys.

I just bought my first BMW, It's a 07' 328i E92 w/ 59,000 miles.

Basically I just wanted to know what I should:

A) Be prepared to service/replace?

B) Be looking out for? i.e. Sounds, vibrations, anything that could be bad.

C) Any general comments/concerns?

I have about 6 months left on the C.P.O. warranty.

On another note, I've had it for almost 2 months now, and I can't get enough of it! I'm already in love with this car! It really is a drivers car.

Thanks in advance!!!

Congrats on the new car

I have a 07 328xi E90 Sports Package, its great I love it. Since I've owned it Iíve replaced the following
- Purchased it w/ 51K currently has 83K (~3 Years)

1. Vanos Solenoid - it was sticking; causing dips in power @ ~3k
2. Battery
3. Water-pump
4. Rear Brakes
5. Both DTR (Amber Parking Lamp Angel Eye)
6. Cylinder # 6 spark plug & Coil

Thank you Sir! This really gives me some insight.

And What would be an indication of the Solenoid sticking?

How much did the Solenoid run you? Can you replace it yourself?

Thanks again! Seems like nothing terribly major!

No Problem, this forum has a lot of good information.

The Solenoid sticking happened in the 60,000 mile range, it triggered a CEL and was lacking power around 3,000RPM. 3K is right in the power band and it didnít feel like it was @ full power. From what I remember it was pretty apparent that there was an issue. I think it was ~300-400$.

I unfortunately donít have a garage or a good location to work on my car so I have to it serviced elsewhere.

First off, congrats on your purchase, new cars are fun! and these are wonderful cars.

But, there is a tremendous amount of info on this board, and others on the net as well. Rather than say "What do I need to know?" and expect quality answers, take the time to actually read through whats out there.

If you bought a car blind, now is your chance to make up for it and read. Its really the best way to learn. I've had mine for 4 years and 80,000 miles (for a total of almost 130,000) and I was on this board and another bimmer site for a year reading and learning, and based my buy on what I learned. Hell I had an exhaust picked out before I even bought the thing

Not trying to sound like a dick, but put in a little effort and you will be rewarded.
