Huge rpi scoop disappointment!!!!

I really hate to bash any company but rpi scoops are a 100% rip off! they are in absolutely no way worth $200!!!!!!! I just received mine and i was extremely disappointed in the quality! The metal is extremely thin to the point i questioned whether it was metal or plastic at first! I cant say whether or not they offer a performance gain but It would definitely not be worth 200 dollars! You are better off cutting apart a tupperware container and glueing it together in this shape! please don't waste your money on rpi scoops!!!!!

There are a number of reviews of scoops posted, I posted one on the $80 M-Force Design scoops a couple of months ago:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=324058

Doing a search on 'scoops' could have provided a lot of good information.

Not sure what scoops you bought but they are definitely not $200, someone ripped you off hardcore. Even their scoops w/ filter is $169 retail on their own website. I did Dyno testing for their Z4 scoop when they first introduced it and for the price and the gain you really cant complain. The guys at RPI are no joke and the cars they have tuned and are in their shop aren't either. What really were you expecting from intake scoops? 100HP with built in NOS? Come on...ridiculous

Ya..someone will always make a replica that's cheaper but RPI was the first to introduce it and has proven results. Still doesn't explain why the OP got ganked 200$ but of course he's not replying anymore, figures. :end thread:

EDIT: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289187

That one probably? Doesn't look to be any more "design" in it but I'm sure it works, seems like doesn't stretch as far across the grills either. Those slits to let water out seem like a great place for air to get out defeating the purpose but eh, $39 shipped to each their own.

I consistently get 1 MPG more with scoops. At $3 a gallon and 10K mls a year, I break even on the $80 purchase cost in 1.5 years, after that it saves me $50 a year. Where's the joke in that?

That's not even considering the improvement in throttle response and slight increase in power.

I honestly cant believe you bought a tiny piece of metal for $200. I made them myself for less then $20 then decided to get the cyba for $39. Technically, its not modbargins fault, its yours. Its funny no matter how you look at it though.
