Met Chris Bangle yesterday

Whilst at the Sydney International Motorshow yesterday, I ran into Chris Bangle (the Head of BMW Group Design worldwide - designer of the new 3, 5, 6, 7 etc) who was wandering around the stands.

I walked up to him and introduced myself and told him that whilst I drive one your opposition's products, my wife owns one of your designs and it IS starting to grow on me!

He took this very well and had a laugh and we had a quick chat about his motor industry career and as we parted he sincerely offerred his best regards to my wife and her car.

Have to say he impressed me. I've met a few very senior motor industry executives and most aren't as approachable or friendly as he was, especially if they've just arrived from overseas off a plane too.

My only regret is that I didn't think of bringing my wife's owner's manual with me yesterday to get him to sign it!

That's pretty cool!

I would imagine that someone of that intelligence would be pretty cool, especially one who works for BMW.

It's a pretty cool company, from all I have read.

It would be cool to pick Mr. Bangle's brain for a bit. I'd have a lot of questions to ask him hehe.

Pretty cool 9C1.

By the way the designer of the 6 and 7-series (both from the conceptcar Z9) is a Dutchman (Adrian van Hooydonk)!! He is now head of the design-department of BMW, Bangle moved up, as you've said, to Head of design of the BMW group (BMW, MINI, Rolls Royce) so he just have to approve the designs.
