yea, pretty expensive. and the way it looks, is disappointing. but if it really makes 5-7 hp as dinan claims, that's a lot better than anything that's out there. the "fajita" and clone intakes robbed hp. simota made 1 hp. i believe the gruppe m was around 5 hp.

William, I just realized today that the GruppeM intake is completely open to the bottom portion that surrounds the brake duct. If you look at the top view, the edge of the intake covers the car's frame, but from that point to the fender well, it's open to the bottom. See photo:

yea thats why i was thinkin of leading the piping all the way to the bottom and fitting the filter next to the fogs or sumthing. now thatll be a true cold air.

I'm not completely sure I follow, but remember you ARE getting cold air already from the ram air scoops on the intake that reach over the radiator to get cold air at the front of the car. My intuition tells me that increasing the distance of the intake piping to the air filter might create problems with air velocity, resistance and ultimately, the MAF sensor readings.

I nit pick everything so my negative comments weren't directed at you specifically for choosing to install this intake. I just like to know all the plus and minuses about everything before I make a decision. Pretty sure as a bunch, BMW owners are the same level of critical.

If you choose to bail on us, that's fine. But it does seem odd that you'd continue to post in the thread about how you're going to get it installed ... during the negative comments ... and then come back and post a naa naa boo boo on us for posting negative stuff.

Therefore I call and say you ended up listening to the negativity and ditched the intake at the last second.

maybe the product doesn't look that good or doesn't look like it worth the money, but the owner of that intake have right not to tell anyone how it feels. For those who want to know the performance and doesn't want to pay, one word "cheap"
