Sales Rep Contact

My Sales Rep and I are practically in daily contact. She regrets having sent me the ship tracking info and claims she has created a Tracking Monster.

On another note, what do you guys think about Clear Coat Car Bra's. Worth it?

Also, any suggestions on where to pick up a spare wheel/tire or donut spare for a 335i with Sport 18" Rims?

How are you guys going to handle Run Flats and lack of a spare? I am thinking of getting a compressor, scissor jack and donut spare.

So, I take it she doesn't have any info for you on when she's getting her hands on your car?

On the bra, I'm leasing for 30 months, so I don't really give a crap about chips or whatever that the clear bra would protect against. Never noticed much of a problem in this area on my other cars except from people nudging me as they park by feel in san francisco (and I can't imagine the clear bra would protect against this in any case). I also think the visible line (isn't there a visible line?) where the bra ends would drive me nuts.

On the spare and run flats, I'm taking a wait and see approach. I'm hoping that the run flats seem okay to me and I'm just going to live with them. It does annoy me that the cars don't come with regular spare tires anymore. I would really, really prefer a traditional spare and jack to run flats, but I'm only willing to deal with a spare awkwardly stored in my trunk if the ride on the run flats is really crappy.

Clear Coat yes!!! After having enough road debris hit my car the bra has saved my some serious paint damage.

Checked online at BMWUSA and it is show my car at the VPC. Waiting to hear back from my dealer on delivery date.

Cheers,

Chuck

Unfortunately, I am in the Rocky Mountains (Denver area). So might take a little big longer to make it's way here.

Cheers,

Chuck

2/28 sounds terrible! I (always the optimist) have avoided scheduling any meetings for the rest of the week starting tomorrow afternoon just in case I get the call to go pick up my car.

My CA told me the car will be ready Friday. Hopefully I will have time this weekend to pick it up. My lease expires in a week so I should change the cars over by then. The only difference is that I am going from a 335i sedan to a 335i convertable. With the weather so cold at the moment I am in no hurry to get the vert as I won't get a lot of use out of it for a while.

I will definately be doing the clear coat, just dont know if I will do the whole hood or a portion.

I have had RFT's on my 335i for 2 years now with no issues ( I think I just jinxed myself). I more than likely will go to non RFT's once the OEM tires wear out and get a spare with a jack. Hopefully that will be a long way off.

Typical length on the hood is 18" from the front edge. I also recommend doing the front fenders, headlights, foglights and mirrors. In total, it should run about $400 or so. Make sure you get 3M material, as it has a warranty and is tough stuff.

Cheers,

Chuck

Chuck, have you seen it on a JB car. Mine is JB and I was worried about a line across the hood, especially after you polish

Just spoke to my salesman. My car was processed at the VPC and released to the shipper yesterday. It's supposedly sitting at the port still though. He's going to call the trucking company and get an ETA.

I have put clear bra on white car, looks fine to me. You still have a line, but better than tearing up the nose with rock chips or worse. It is all about compromise...

Also, you wax the clear bra at the same time you wax the rest of the car. A good installer will cut the transition line at an angle, so you do not get polish/wax build up on the bra leading edge.

Cheers,

Chuck

Talked to my CA. He told me my car was loaded on the truck yesterday and is on it's way to Colorado. I am hoping to have by this weekend, but we will see.

Cheers,

Chuck

Just heard from my salesman again.

Apparently, my car is the only car the trucking company has going to bakersfield and they're not going to ship it until they have more. Probably sometime next week, they say. This is what I get for being cheap and not buying locally I guess. Painful.

The dealership quoted me $1,395 and only 13" of the hood. But I found an a company with good reviews on Yelp that will do the following for $760:

BMW 335i
Bumper
24" Hood / Fenders,
Headlights
Mirrors
Door Cups
Door edges
Trunk loading area
7 year guarantee on our materials and labor.

They will also tint all the windows for $250

Yet another update. My car somehow made it to the dealership and is being prepped and washed right now. Ready to be picked up this afternoon.

Now if I could just figure out how to work this afternoon, drive 4 hours each way to bakersfield and back and make it to dinner with my in-laws at 8:00 tonight. Something is going to have to give.

Was yours an ED or a regular delivery? If your car is already here, mine should be arriving soon too, but I don't know if ED's take longer (due to different handling by customs or other reasons).

Mine's regular. I've read that EDs can take significantly longer (like a week or two) to clear customs.

Should be great up at tahoe this weekend with the recent snow. I was up there two weeks ago and the weather was perfect for skiing, though not so perfect for keeping snow on the mountain. It was like 40 degrees at the summit at squaw.

I did ED 2 years ago and mine only took 2 days to process. It all depends on how many cars there is and how many ships arrive. ED's do take a little longer. My car is ready to pick up also I jsut have to get to the dealer.

My 550i GT (which was on the Goliath Leader) was delivered yesterday afternoon. It's awesome. (Imperial Blue and Cinnamon leather.)
