Cool 2007 3-series, 5-series, 7-series CPO cars eligible for upgraded maintenance plan

Certified Pre-owned sales account for 45% of all BMWNA's sales, so to boost such an important part of BMW's business, BMWNA is extending the maintenance plan on all CPO 2007 3-series, 5-series, and 7-series models sold between Feb. 2 - Mar. 31, to 6yr/100k miles.

Per Auto News:
Quote:
BMW of North America is upping the ante on its no-cost maintenance plan, adding an additional two years or 50,000 miles on select certified pre-owned 2007 models sold between Feb. 2 and March 31.

The upgrade is activated when a new-car transferable four-year or 50,000-mile warranty expires. BMW customers with certified pre-owned 2007 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series are eligible to receive the no-cost maintenance plan upgrade that ups the warranty to six years or 100,000 miles.

“That's the bread and butter, the heart of our lineup,” Russ Lucas, manager of BMW Pre-Owned Sales, said. “They represent 45 percent of our sales. In the next 60 to 90 days, I think we'll see more sold.”

The plan covers all service inspections, oil service, wiper blades, and normal wear and tear, like oxygen sensors and brake and clutch replacements. BMW estimates that costs for those services could amount to $1,800 over two years without a maintenance plan. The deal is conditional upon standard BMW Financial Services rates.

“The intent is to attract additional customers to BMW's used car business who still have reservations about the reliability and overall value of certified pre-owned cars,” BMW said in a statement.

Last year, BMW's certified pre-owned sales rose 9.5 percent to 114,423. The increase was a new record year for the program.

That's no deal. You have to go with normal rate financing, so they get the money back!

The deal is conditional upon standard BMW Financial Services rates.

Good catch and good call. There are no free lunches in this world... except, unless you have the cash and pay for it outright.

Wouldn't hurt going back to the dealer and asking for it... see if they'll work with you. I would assume they would honor it, if they want to keep you as a customer.

Feb 2 - Mar 31... If you bought it on Feb 6, I'm assuming you don't qualify.

Taken from the quote above...

"BMW customers with certified pre-owned 2007 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series are eligible to receive the no-cost maintenance plan upgrade that ups the warranty to six years or 100,000 miles."

So does this mean that if you already own a certified pre-owned 2007 3, 5, or 7 you are eligible to recieve the maintenance plan at no cost?

I currently own a 2007 e92 335 that I bought Certified Pre-owned. I bought it in Feb of 2008 though.

According the my dealer they said, because I bought the car on Feb 1st, it would either be the extended maintenance or rate. The rate I got was 2.9% and he said it would go up to 6.9%-7.9% if I decided to go with the maintenance =(

simple break even analysis, figure out how much more you pay in interest vs the cost of this upgraded plan

Looks like the article says that you would qualify. It doesn't say anything about the car must be financed or not. Ultimately you would still have to double check though.

Just bought my car and signed up for the free maintenance with standard rate. I told the finance manager I will later have it refinanced through my credit union at 4%. He said that was fine but I had to wait 5 months before switching. Although I believe that is not true about needing to wait, I will wait at least one month then plan to refinance at a much lower rate.

Yes it does.......

Lol. My intentions will have nothing to do with screwing them over. It simply comes down to cost. If I can save money by refinancing it immediately, so be it. Fact is, if I didn't get the EM for free, then I wouldn't have used the BMWFS. Thus, either way, the dealership isn't going to make any money off me from the finance.

My credit union already indicated that once I receive the registration, I simply need to contact them and they will refinance. The only out of pocket cost is a $15 DMV transfer charge. I've already been approved by the CU so I want to just get it over with asap.

In the end, all this extra work is damn worth a free $2000 EM plan and 3.9 financing through my CU. I'm excited.
