SA for Passport BMW?

Is there a "preferred" SA for Passport? Anyone to avoid? I'm not sure if they just assign you an SA or you can pick one. I don't want to get assigned somebody and have him be my SA for the rest of my car's life if I could have done better by picking one.

You can PM me with the response if you want -- obviously they monitor these forums.

I don't have anything major to do, nothing wrong w/ my car, I just want a "break in" oil change on my dime, and while I'm on the lift, I want them to replace my 162s with my snow tires. I'll be sad to see those tires go for the winter. I'm thinking Thanksgiving timeframe.

You know, now that I think of it, maybe I should just get this done at FFX BMW. It's a heck of a lot closer to me.

I bought at Passport but live in Arlington and work in Tysons. I figure I will get most maintenance done at Fairfax. Can anyone suggest an SA at Fairfax. I think I saw a post once (too lazy to search for it now) about a really good SA at Fairfax. Let me know if that is where you go.

BK, I think I am going with the same package as you (ASA JH3 with the Dunlops). I too will go with the Break-In oil change on my dime but that likely will not be until January. I may just buy a jack and torque wrench and do the wheel change myself. That way I will be able to get them off as soon as possible in the spring.

From what I have seen the fronts of the ASA's look fine, but the rears are tucked in too far (at least once your used to the 162s). Post some pics (especially of the rears) if you can. I've seen all the other pics on the Board but more is always better. I would really like to hear your impressions of how they look.

I'll post pics once I change out the tires, but it will be a few weeks before I do.

Ironically, I was just out driving (always find a reason to drive at lunchtime ) and coming back into my work parking lot, I rubbed the curb with my RR tire. Unf---ing believable. I never did that with my Civic. I think the E90 is slightly wider than I realized. I was driving like a freakin granny at the time, too.

Now I have curb rash on that tire, just on the edge, and I am hoping I didn't screw up the tire itself, but I'll watch it. I think the tire is fine.

The rim doesn't look horrible from far away, but I chipped up the 162s a little bit on the edge. Maybe I'll post pics at some point. Geez, I'm bummed. I think I'll ask to get the rim repaired once it is off the car.

I won't bother posting a pic. Mine looks a lot like this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26097

How are you planning on getting your 162s home if you do the switch at a dealer? Taking new tires in the car is one thing but hauling the used 162s is another story.

My wife has a Pilot so I could use that to haul wheels, but that would mean I have to get her involved. She already thinks I'm crazy. Explaining why a brand new BMW needs new tires and wheels was down right commical.

BK...sorry to hear about your wheel mishap. Sounds like you need to resurface and repaint the wheel.

Happy to report that 8 months and 10,500 miles later I do not have any curb rash despite regular commutes into and around DC. But I do have a rock chip or two on my otherwise pristine 156s, believe it or not....

That's still up in the air. I was either going to fold down the rear seats and put down a tarp or something to prevent getting black marks everywhere, then load them up (though I am not sure they'd fit) or have my wife follow me with the Odyssey (more likely).

This is one reason I'm thinking of just going to Fairfax BMW. Easier commute if we both have to go.

I'm still bummed about that rim.

Sorry about the rim. That would kill me too. I've seen some posts on here where they have repaired some pretty crazy damage to the point you could not tell. The only silver lining is that you can try to get it fixed without taking the car out of action because youy will have the winter rubber on soon. Good luck with that. Keep us uprised of what you do. I'm sure we will all go through this one day.
