I'm in, too! Looks like a great bike day.

There are lots of possible starting points. One I know, is from the parking lot of the Potomac Landing restaurant at One Marina Drive, Alexandria, VA 22314-1143. It's a left hand turn from the GW Parkway, heading south, a bit past DCA. I think the sign on the Parkway says "Dangerfield Island Marina." It's almost exactly a 20 mile round trip from there to Mount Vernon.

If that doesn't work for you guys, where do you want to start from?

Al suggested we start at 9 a.m. Would 9:30 work just as well? I need to kick start my heart and get down from Rockville.

So Al is playing the old guy card? I must be 20- 30 years older than you guys so give me a break....and a head start.

See you tomorrow.

I think that's it, Al. There's a marina there. Here's a link to Google maps
http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&lr=...1&om=1&iwloc=A

I'll be driving my Arctic 328. My permanent bike rack is on my wife's Accord and she needs that car tomorrow, so I have to figure out a way to get my bike into the 328. I have fold down rear seats, so I think I can do it.

See you tomorrow morning at 9:30.

Someone bring a camera and post pics! I'll be there in spirit. I used to be a fairly avid cycler. Pre kids.

How About "Fairfax Corner" Sometime

I know it is not to central but, I could arrange something at Fairfax Corner at the intersection of I66 & US50 in Fairfax.

There is plenty of parking 500 + vehicles, six places to eat & drink (Rio Grande Cafe, P.F Changs, Calf. Pizza Kitchen, Coastal Flats, Chipole' & Ruth Chris. Also, 16 screen movie house and 27 stores that include REI all in a self contained 2 block area with security.

Maybe sometine on a weekend where the distance would not be a problem. If not now maybe after the busy holidays

Just a thought.

I love fairfax corner but I hate the traffic and parking nightmare on the weekends! It took me a long time just circling the lot to find something and it wasn't close either. This place seems to be very popular though.

Parking @ Fairfax Corner

Parking there is not good on weekends but, I was talking about my parking garage there on the top floor of my building, up high and out of the way.

Sorry for the lack of clarity on my part.

If there is good parking where my car won't get dinged, that's always a selling point for me.

maybe we should have a monthly happy hour rotating areas and everyone has to take a turn organizing one.

If you organize a HH @ Fairfax Corner, I'd vote for Coastal Flats. Will probably be too cold to hang out on their patio in the back now ... but during the spring and summer it's wall to wall Not much of a HH going on at Chipotle

hey bad news. A close friend had minor surgery yesterday and isn't feeling well today so it looks like I am going to have to miss happy hour

oh and Kl2DC I know you don't like the 155 wheel but I think I am going to swap out my stock wheels for them because at least they are different than every other stock E90 on the road, plus they are WAY easier to clean all that damn brake dust off. And they are the same price so I only have to but the one (which the nice guy at the service senter will give me a deal on).
