335is Dreams upgraded
If anyone was following my 335is post before, if you saw towards the end I said that when I saw the price I was seriously considering pulling out...
That thread can be found here Well, I am pleased to say that in result of the insane price on the 335is, I just got back from the dealer and have the production number for a 2011 //M3!! Details are: 2011 e92 M3 Prod #:754785_ --Alpine White / Fox Red (non extended) --6spd --Technology Package ---->Comfort Access, MDM, EDC, Navigation, Voice Comm, Real-time traffic --Anti-theft --Moonroof --Heated seats --Assist --IPod/Smartphone I tried to stay with minimal options but it was a little difficult. I wanted the MDM badly and unfortunately it ONLY came with the tech package, so I had to do it. I am truly thrilled that I am going to be back in a BMW. My production starts in March, they said I should have the car toward the end of April!!!! Happy to be back in the BMW community again (and hopefully for good!) And I included an obligatory shot of the Aston like I did in the other thread. ![]() Cheers!!

I would have gone with the 335is. I drove a 6mt M3 extensively and maybe I'm an idiot but I did not care for the lack of torque and it didn't feel faster than my 335i. You really have to get it reving. I just like the idea of the 6 cylinder also.
I am going 335is this time around and maybe M3 next. Congrats though! |

I havn't driven the 335is, so I can't even tell you what 376tq for 7 seconds feels like with RWD. My current WRX has around 370tq and I love the way it pins you. When I took the M3 on the highway during my test drive, the dealer told me to punch it. I kicked it into 3rd and just let it go up to 8400, then down into 4th and kept flooring it for a little. I swear I was speechless. My dad has a Bentley GT Speed (I think 550tq), Aston Martin Vantage v8 (370ish tq), and an 06' M5 (dont remember how much torque). With the Bentley, it feels like the hand of God is pushing you, its insane. With the Aston, it's not so much about the speed, but more the sound. With the M5, its about how it has 500hp and just keeps pulling. NONE of these cars gave me the feeling that the M3 did. The power, feel, and sound at the threshold was phenomenal. The 335i sounds AWESOME, I love the exhaust note -- but the M3 sounds different, and louder. I don't think I'll miss the torque, knowing that I can unleash an ear-splitting rumble of high-revving fury whenever I please. Like the 10cycl in the M5, I don't think BMW will ever make another V8 that was lighter than the straight 6 of the previous M, revs higher, and makes almost 100hp more. I wanted this car for the engine, it's a gem. On the other hand, I am pretty happy they did not have a 335is on hand for me to drive, as I may have not even thought about the M.

Congratulations!! Beautiful car you ordered! Especially like your color & option choices. It's pretty tough to forgo the tech pkg in a M3 it seems, given how it's packaged. You'll love the new iDrive, I'm sure.
That is quite amazing that you found the M3 as phenomenal, given the kinds of cars you're used to... I really gotta try one one day (but not yet, lol - still in love with my 335i )

Congrats! You made an excellent choice!
What were your reasons in not getting CF roof?

Yeah, there's really no wrong move in this one. . like choosing between Penelope Cruz and Penelope Cruz with breast implants . Both are great, it just depends on what you like. (Ok, now that I think about that analogy, it really doesn't make sense, but whatever)

Make no mistake that I am not "used" to the kinds of cars I mentioned driving above. I've only driven them several times when I have a good excuse to do so. I wish he would just randomly throw the keys to a $230k car, but instead I have to ask...very nicely lol. My current car is a 2006 Subaru WRX Limited. This M3 is a HUGE upgrade from that. Quote:
Thanks so much.. It's a common combo, but how can you go wrong, really? Quote:
Of course, this was BEFORE any bargaining had been done for the 335is, so that price may have came down as much as $5k, I can't be sure. Fine.... ![]()
