Driving? I bought snow socks, sweated a bit with some nightmares of French police stopping me getting to my destination so I then bought some snow chains for £30 from ebay (polar chains) just for show you see thinking no way they would get on or fit! to my amazement they are easier to fit (yes they fitted!) than the expensive socks.

So just everyone knows - £30 snow chains fit fine on 255/35/18 with M Sport setup.

I usually go skiing in the Sierra Nevada with my father-in-law but missing this year due to the "credit crunch"

I've run out of credit with the wife and she will crunch my b@lls if I go skiing!!!!!

Tignes is nice but overpriced. Was there in 2008, however there are much nicer resorts like Serre Chevalier for the less.

Off next weekend for 3 days. Ecomony work team do in Bulgaria.

Had a look at a new Burton V Rocker Custom today - sales bloke in snow and rock was raving about it and the EST bindings. They only had one left and that was reserved. Very tempted.... anyone tried one?

Errrr... should I say something in response Mr Neversaydie . . .

Hmmmm . . .

We are all entitled to our own opinions . . . For right or wrong . . . I was simply simply offering our family apartment at a discount cost to others here . . . I hardly think accom for eight people @ £72 each for a week is exactly expensive for a ski in / out apartment with over 300km of piste at your front door. . .

As I read it I think he meant ski passes, drinks etc., rather than your specific accommodation!

Some places are expensive - e.g. Ischgl is not cheap - but crikey its worth it!

YUP!! Awsome and so quick and easy. I appreciate your question was more related to the V-Rocker but ive just bought a whole new set up for this season. I am a Burton whore, always have been and will be!! I now run with the new 2010 Burton Custom X in 160, Burton Cartel EST bindings in white and Burton ION boots with the new rapid lace system which is so quick to take boots on/off its almost silly!! With regard the V-Rocker it all depends on your level of skill and what you want from a board. I used to be a big snow park player but falling hurts too much now im knocking on the door of 40!! So im a freerider, off piste and deep powder. Have you looked at the Jeremy Jones - awsome board and half the price if you find an 08/09 model which are the nuts.

Cool - I must admit once he showed me what EST was all about it made alot of sense - just thin foam between your boot and board, clever stuff.

I just freeride/off piste really - but being doing it 16 years so skill level is adequate. Sales bloke (clearly a boarder, not pushy and didn't actually have 1 to sell) was really upbeat about the v-rocker for general use - I made it clear my park days were long over but he said the v-rocker was still good for freeriding - but did feel different. Apparently the kids all prefer the "joystick" version as it has more pop.

I was just after a Custom really - but may look at a V-Rocker version after what he said. Everything I have is Burton too - I currently have a Cascade which is too off-piste focussed really - esp in the side radius cut, with Mission bindings and Ruler boots (plus pants, jacket, snowboard carrying backpack etc.)

I might go up to Hemel or somewhere to see if I can hire-try a V-Rocker - its a bit late for this season though!

I'm off next Saturday (13th March) to La Plagne for the second year in a row. Wanted to do to Les Arcs but the child care was very good in La Plagne and the prices a little cheaper so we went for that option (albeit in a different Chalet this year).

Three of us board and we have one skier in our group (excluding the baby). I've got an old, wide and generally crappy board and bindings. Wish I could justify the cost of a new one but no chance!

Seems little slushy out there from what I'm reading so hopefully some cold weather to come.

Thanks Stevie. I know what you mean about starting from scratch. Ive never skied but intend to learn when Molly gets to the right age to learn herself. Love to see the little kiddly-winks bombing down flat out on skis and boards with zero fear, bless 'em!!

Hi, AJD is correct, I was not refering to your accomodation just Tignes in general. I was charged €22 for 2 x chips and 2 x pints.

Well .... you'll probably get good snow.

ANOTHER 5 inches fell last night, here.

Was perfectly dry and clear last night when I came back from a few beers - woke up to this.

Got back yesterday from Ellmau in Austria. Started the week at +14 degrees centigrade and ended at -11 degrees centigrade mid- afternoon ! I have never had a 25 degree delta on a skiing holiday. Anyhow great time and snow was good when out of the afternoon sun.

Haven't been for 5 years so it was like starting from scratch, so will now have to keep it up.
