Motorola KRZR (Sprint) bluetooth problems
I purchased and since returned the phone as I could not get it to work with my bluetooth correctly.
The phone always found the car bluetooth and even loaded in the phonebook (something my a900 could not do), but when I placed a call using the car phonebook via navigation or voice activation the call would go through, but the car speakers would not activate and the sound would utilize the phones speaers. Very strange. Any ideas? In addition, is there an area that states which Sprint phones work with BMW bluetooth? Their list is so outdated and Sprint has a range of new phones (Razr, Krzr, Slvr, Samsung M500, and Sanyo M-1) coming out in the next 3 weeks. I need to upgrade from my a900 as I want the phonebook to work.

Well, it's not compatible.
I'm really not surprised that it's transferring the call to the phone. One of the 20 odd phones I'm playing around with was working fine for 2 weeks, then it decided to do what yours is doing. Go figure.

I thought the Razr was supposed to work so I figured the Krzr would as well. Oh well. It is returned and I can save $400.

The KRZR (K1) works fine for me. In the settings section of the phone there is a "Car Settings" menu. I set "Auto Answer" to "Off" and "Auto Handsfree" to "On". It sounds like you had "Auto Handsfree" set to "Off" if it intermittently went through the phone speaker.

What works for you mightn't work for us. However, since there are controls such as what you mentioned, obviously they need to be set correctly.

This is what I posted about my krzr. When you get a call it works fine and go through the cars BT. When you make a call useing the dial or address book it will default to the actual phone and not the bt. Then you have to take out the phone and switch it over to the cars BT for the call. I also discovered that if you dial the # on the phone then it will work right and use the cars BT.
How can we make it so when we place a call from the dial/address book it defaults to the cars BT? |

"Automatically route calls to a car kit when connected: Find it: Centre button > Settings > Car Settings > Auto Handsfree" Could you try it out and report back to see if it's a USA bug only. |

If I go into other, there is a setting for auto answer (carkit/headset mode). It is set to off. Should this be set to on? In the bluetooth menu under device history when I select my car it shows: Handsfree voice gateway : automatic obex object push: ask obex file transfer: ask dial-up network gateway: ask. Those are all the settings. Do you think I should switch it to auto answer in my "other" settings? |

The settings in the pdf of the USA manual are in respect of the generic USA firmware, i.e. if you bought the phone SIM free in the USA. These are at page 7 of the USA pdf manual that you can download from http://direct.motorola.com/ENS/web_p...roductid=30621 These are different to the ones you have listed above.
It sounds as though your network provider has installed customised firmware which has buggered up the functionality of the phone. You could try flashing it with generic firmware or complain to your provider. Auto Answer just means that calls are answered without having to press a button. Auto Handsree routes the sound and audio input (to and from) an external device, e.g. car kit or ear piece. If Auto Handsfree has been deleted from your network provider's customised firmware then that is a big cock up. |

Similar Problem with RAZR
I am having similar problem with my RAZR V3m.. When trying to dial through the cars's address book transferred from the phone it does not work. The calls come in fine. When I dial the number using headset the nav screen actually shows the name from address book and it connects. Also when dialing individual numbers (not the add book name) it connects fine...
Weird... Help needed... Otherwise it is going back to sprint.. Thanks |

Well I did an upgrade through my phone yesterday and VOILA!!!! it worked... However I have made three phone calls through the car's phone book since then... two of them went through and one did not...
I guess I'll wait over the weekend and try out the phone some more. I like sprint otherwise... Works in my basement!!!! |

i was at the dealer about a month ago when i got the new v3i with intermittent connectivity problems.
i think its a load of bullshit, but he told me that there's an extended antenna in the left kickpanel for the bluetooth that the factory doesnt hook up. i think its a croc but whateva. i havent had ne probs after that. but i also read in a couple of posts here that there was a software download that was supposed to take care of this too! dont know which one it was but its workin now.
