Removing stubborn wheel brake dust

My alloys have some stubborn brake dust on the insides of them, that even Wander wheels won't shift, although I don't like leaving it on for too long in case it starts to attack the paint too harshly.

Is it safe enough to leave Wander wheels on that bit longer seeing is it's on the inside, or is there some other way of removing these marks, as they are visible thgrough the spokes from the outside, and kind of spoil the look slightly.

Is rubbing the marks off with wet and dry paper followed by a light coat of spray too savage?

Malco brake off is a good product that shifts these sorta stains, I usually use CG's diablo wheel gel these days, very good quality and shifts all the crud but the brake off is a bit more harsh and will clean without effort.

I use wonder wheels and scrub with a toothbrush, gets off all of the burnt on brake dust.
