How invasive is the install of the amp tho? I know for my honda they took apart alot of the interior trim and the entire backseats to wire the amp to the trunk and the seats never really locked back into place like they used to. If there's a reputable installer who knows how to carefully do the installs for e9x/e8x then I might feel more comfortable about changing my MAYBE to a YES. Not to mention the fact that we've got optical outputs!

i've been reading up on this upgrade for a few months now. it's not that invasive at all. really, the only work you are doing is under your seats and in your trunk (to get to the amp).

i've linked a few threads here where people have taken the DIY route. the fact that we have optical outputs in the Logic 7 isnt a huge deterrent. Member Technic has even developed a special harness which you can use if you don't want to splice or tap into the wires. it hooks right up to your system so you can add an aftermarket amp. see here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=harness

i would definitely be getting the spacers from jtsherri. it seems that they make a world of difference when you use them.

i'm thinking something like this:

subs: $200 - $240
spacers: ?? (optional)
amp: depends on what amp you get
amp wiring kit: $20
LOC to wire your amp to existing system: about $20 (or you can get the harness made by Technic)

by the way guys, do not forget the chances are good that if we ship these to canada, we will be paying duties as well. don't want any surprises later i was going to order a set for myself and have them shipped to a friend in LA and pick them up when i am there next week, however, i thought i would see if i can help out the forum members and just arrange a groupbuy, even though it means we'll pay duty (maybe we'll make it up in the discounts).

I bought a M6450. You can stack your amps but only problem is when you make under the seat subs mono, you won't hear low end mid-tone is stereo. Our 4" can't produce all the mid-tone so we rely on the 8". You can however use your 4 channel and run the fronts and subs.

Installation shouldn't be too bad especially you guys have the OEM amp in the trunk, LOC is not needed IMO. For me I need to run wire from OEM HU to trunk

Thanks jigga, keep us posted.

^ as long as the install can be as clean and OEM looking as possible im fine...... I definitely don't want AMPs being installed on the backs of my seat etc...... so you're suggesting that an SWS sub upgrade would be useless without an amp upgrade too?

totally!...I mean if you aren't putting amp you would actually decrease the performance by putting SWS. These guys are power hungry. If you feed them with OEM HU or OEM amp the SWS magnet will not create enough push since they are much bigher.

Are the spacers necessary? If so, where do we get that from? What about the amp? Is there any recommendations of which one to get? Maybe a GB can be set up for that too?

everyone says they really help. if you look at some of the links posted earlier, you will find that there is a user named jtsherri on the forums who has machined some spacers and has been selling them to members of e90post.
the reviews are excellent and im pretty sure we can get a gb going for that.

as for the amp, if you do a search im sure you can find many recommendations. personally im using an old zapco amp that i had from my last install.

you'll have to pay for shipping from toronto to winnipeg. i've got some pretty good rates with Purolator and would be happy to extend them to you if you like.

i dont the size/weight of the subs with packaging, but i can't see it costing more than $20 or $30??

Another route you could go would be to leave the existing speakers under the seat and add an Amp and a 10 or 12 inch sub in the trunk. This would leave the car pretty much stock but still give you the punch you are looking for. I think a single 10 or 12 inch sub is better than 2 - 8 inch SWS.

hmm, that may be pretty heavy depending on the box that you'd need....

i'd rather go for less punch and more 50/50 weight distribution, but that's just me.

Your right, to each his own, I have had the sub installed for 4 months now, my only problem was the size of the box in the trunk but I am correcting that with a custom enclosure that will tuck into the side above where the logic 7 sits. I have a remote on the JL Amp that lets me dial it up or down depending on the type of music I am listening to. I liked this option simply because I could pull everything out and the car would be completely stock.

I'm definitely willing to cut a deal if all 10 people are willing to buy a set. I currently only have 4 sets left in stock; however, I should have 15-20 more by the end of the week. Thanks for the support!
