E90 320d hot centre console

Only had the car a few weeks and Ive noticed that inside the centre console seems very hot.....is that normal?

So hot that I would worry about leaving anything plastic or electrical in there.

Its a 2005 non idrive console.

What a brilliant site this is with clairvoyant people.

I remember I was cleaning the car last weekend inside and out and think I did turn rear heater on.

I will try as you say and see how it goes tomorrow.

Thanks for your quick replies.

You guys have helped me sleep easy tonight....you cant believe the horrors that were going through my head.

Overheating gearbox, no oil, worn out bearing, drive shaft overheating, etc etc

Garage List
If you have a 'metal' trim like brushed aluminium it gets v.cold too if the rear is set that way.

I believe that, if you complain to the dealer about this, they will fit additional insulation under warranty.

NFS, its a 2005 model bought privately second hand so doubt I could get anything done. But now its not a problem now know I what was causing it. For the few times I carry passengers in the rear who need the heat on it wont be a problem.

After a long run today, and turning control at the rear things were all good again.

I have read the thread on here somewhere about that and mine is still under warranty, however, I really dont want a dealer pulling the centre console apart......
I have no rattles or squeeks at the moment and would like to keep it that way!
