Stock BMW tool Kit in the trunk

So What "tools" Should I have in the trunk toolkit from the factory? I only see some sort of strange looking jack-like tool, but with no jack I have no idea what it is....The spaces for a pliers (spanner) etc are empty. Did my Dealer screw me for some strange reason?

I have empty spaces in mine as well. I would be interested to know what should be included with MY2009, as well as whether there is anything that should have been included in the space under the trunk floor.

I did a Euro delivery and that space is empty for me too. This was all before getting to the dealer so the dealer took nothing. But they did give me the OEM road warning triangle (as they do all Euro deliveries!!!).

Missing tools are very inexpensive and available at BMW parts. Lower left is wheel lock key.

Tools? Tools! You don't get no stinkin' tools...! This is just another BMW nickel and dime cheapout. It gets worse every year. I think the only ones you were supposed to get even back in '08 was the screwdriver and tow eye. Maybe they dropped the screwdriver the following year?

If you just got the car, go beg the dealer for at least screwdriver, wrench, and the manual sunroof crank. Tell him if you don't get the crank, and the roof sticks open in the rain, he's looking at replacing the whole interior under warranty...that will probably work! It did for me.

What will happen is he'll probably go raid some OTHER car on the lot for the tools...

Hmmmmm -- interesting -- my E91 has a BMW screwdriver from the factory, but it's a flat-bladed one.

I added the sunroof crank that BMW thinks we're too stupid to use. I think it was about $1 with the CCA discount.

the screw driver is both a flat and philips head. pull the handle off and flip the bar around.

You are better off buying this for $10 at autozone (52 pc set) and throwing it in your trunk.

Those rachets are pieces of shit, and a kit like that won't include a sunroof crank and the one you pictured doesn't even have open end wrenches. The wrench from BMW is only like 4 bucks, and i think less for the sunroof crank.

If you want more tools than that, buy a more quality set then a bargain set. If you're looking for something to use in an emergency, you don't want something that won't work. This is speaking from experience as i once bought a bargain set, and when i needed to use the ratchet, it ended up breaking on me.

I agree about using good quality tools. But compared with what is in your trunk the $10 autozone set is ok too. I used it in an emergency and it worked. Also, I never said throw away the BMW tools; leave it there.

E-mail Evan or Jason (Tischer BMW) at getHelp@getBMWparts.com for part numbers for the spanner and wrench missing in the tool kit. They both cost under $12 but I didn't keep the part numbers.

Red face Followup

So look at the pic posted by TropicalSGC and then immagine (stay with me here) EVERYTHING missing except the wheel lock key. Man! How lame. I'm sure the dealer raided my car to fill some other empty box. I have much better (and more plentiful) tolls in my own sets, but still, its just resounding testimony as to the lameness of car dealerships in general.

Gotta get me one of dem sunroof cranks though...I love the idea of threatening the warrantee interior-replacement! I could finally get the Chestnut Brown I orriginally wanted!

last time i bought a cheap set like that from autozone i twisted a screwdriver one time and the plastic handle broke in pieces in my hand immediately

Just got a price from Peake BMW in New Orleans. The wrench is $19.8 and the sunroof crank is $4.2. Not sure if I need a $20 wrench!!!

I thought a SPANNER was British for what we in the western world call a wrench?

Hmm... I got a 330xi used. Also missing the wheel lock. When I look at my wheel bolts, it looks like I don't have a wheel lock. Maybe that's why it's missing?
